Re: Is American A&P specific?

Middle East airlines such as Emirates have been known to hire US A&P mechanics. They usually require fleet specific experience. US A&P mechanics can also find work as contractors on US military airbases overseas. US airlines with foreign maintenance stations usually only require an A&P f...

Re: Can severe turbulence damage avionics in the E&E bay?

The only examples I can think of are the main batteries of certain A320 aircraft. The severe turbulence inspection calls for examining the battery hold down rods. There have been instances where they have broken.

Re: SE aeronautics SE200 , a potential disruptor

Their corporate address is a vacant lot next to a wedding hall. The wedding hall and SE Aeronautics appear to have the same people running them. Somehow they are going to go from weddings to airliner manufacturing.

Re: Lowering flaps and gear at the same time.

Lowering the gear doesn’t put much demand on the hydraulic system. Once the gears unlock they free fall for the most part. Retracting them is another story.

Re: Qatar Airways threatens Pilots for taxiing with both engines

In 2005 there was an incident at MSP with a NW DC9. The DC9 landed and had a failure of its right hydraulic system. The pilots mistakenly believed it was a pressure indication problem. They proceeded to taxi to the terminal using their company’s single engine taxi policy. They shut down the left eng...

Re: Qatar's Boeing 747-8 BBJ Takeoff from FLL

The 737 door handle is spring loaded to retract into a flush position after you latch the door closed. If you let go of the handle after closing the door and the handle isnt aligned with its recessed slot it will stay in whatever position it was released at. Doesn't hurt anything. The door is still ...

Re: Updated: 737 Freighter ditches in water off HNL

I’m sure their maintenance program has them sump water from the fuel tanks regularly. I’ve worked on 737-200 with water scavenge systems installed. I’m not not sure if they were factory installed or added on later.

Re: Updated: 737 Freighter ditches in water off HNL

The pilot said the remaining engine was running hot. High time, worn out JT8D engines will often reach their EGT (exhaust gas temperature) limit before reaching their full power setting. A likely scenario is that after the first engine failed, for what ever reason, they were left with a marginal eng...

Re: Broken Plane Question

Relatively inexpensive expendable parts are typically purchased from the other airline. High cost parts are loaned and the other airline will typically charge by the flight hour.

Re: Tri-wing concept claims to cut fuel consumption by 70%

SE Aeronautic’s corporate address is a vacant lot next to a wedding hall. The wedding hall and SE Aeronautic have the same owners/family running them. This company appears to be a fantasy or investment scam.
