Re: Japan Airlines is nearing an order for wide-body jets

How popular do we think the 767s will be on the second hand passenger market? Excellent Japanese maintenance/engineering must make them an attractive option, however the flight circles not so much?

Re: Australian Aviation - February 2024

Changes are coming especially in J - HUGE service restyle being launched. Can’t mention much more, but the good old days are coming back (in a big way) They never confirm large orders at once (spooks the market) so I doubt there’ll be orders for over 100 aircraft. They need XLRs more so than 223s so...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2023

Oh, come on now! While it's true that the aviation industry is highly competitive, suggesting that Qantas/Jetstar should be broken up simply because it limits the growth of airlines like Rex and Bonza seems unreasonable. If Bonza and Rex want to thrive and achieve success, perhaps they should focus ...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - June 2023

If PS doesn't work out, then the A35Ks will just replace the A380s a bit earlier than currently planned. The A380s are fully written down so there is no major profit hit if the were to leave early. If you are building a fleet of A35K, the incremental cost of adding the A359 is not huge. The A359 is...

This is interesting, one can almost picture down the road not a single Aussie to be seen working their flight. My last flight with Finnair I was fairly surprised to not see a Scandinavian working. https://www.9news.com.au/national/qantas-update-international-flights-pilot-association-outrage-jobs/6...

Re: A380- why F on first deck?

Based on my experience, I have observed that both the upper deck and the area forward of doors 2 on the main deck have comparable noise levels. However, the main deck could be potentially quieter. In addition to this, there is more usable space available for first-class passengers on the main deck d...

A little off topic, but not unrelated, what are the potential benefits of merging GLA and EDI into a single airport located between the two cities, making use of the current train and road way systems, and allowing for the plots of land the current airports sit on to be used for housing or other use...

Re: Qantas Launches Contest for A330 Replacement

My money is on an A359 order of around 40-45 frames (delivered in two different configs, a high J and a low J), in addition to this I see QF’s 789s heading over to Jetstar. This will mean QF has a really streamlined and cost efficient fleet of A220s, A321s, A350s and A380s (later replaced by A350s).

Heathrow - new terminal?

Hello all, Sorry if this is a repeated post or has been discussed as well. I know there was a plan under the Heathrow Eas...

Hi all,

Does anyone know if VS are planning on refitting the A350 with A339’s Thompson Aerospace hard J product? It just seems wild to me that an airline of Virgin’s size can have three completely different hard products in Business.

Re: Qantas Launches Contest for A330 Replacement

A350-900 is probably the top contender here. Quick conversion course for existing 330 flight crew and fleet commonality with the incoming A350-1000 will mean it’ll be a success for QF. Wonder if existing 787-9 frames will make their way to Jetstar and be replaced with more 900s to create more fleet ...

For a relatively small airline, Virgin Atlantic’s fleet, image and product complexity/inconsistencies have always puzzled me. It won’t be a new brand, branding will stay British Airways. But yes, agree with the new subsidiary focusing on lower costs, which will be associated with new crew contracts. Don’t think we’ll be seeing Club Europe on these aircraft. To compete with the likes of Easyjet and Wizz, you need the same, ...

Any A321 incarnation would be a great decision for BA Gatwick. Fill it to the brim with seats, and you’ve got yourself a really competitive proposition against Easyjet and Wizz I do wonder if this is where all the A321ceo aircraft in the BA fleet will go. They’ve been sidelined since the start of th...

Maybe we’ll see a complete rethink about Gatwick routes for BA. Maybe they’ll go after the high traffic routes/bucket & spade routes for the new Gatwick venture. Friend at LGW crew says they have been told the new plan won't interfere with the existing (few remaining in comparison to what there was) crew on the 777. I hope they're not about to get shafted again. This about the short haul fleet so the 777 cr...
