They can interview again, go through initial new-hire training (even if they have 10,000 hours on the aircraft they will be flying), go on the bottom of the seniority list and sit reserve, like I had to do when I was a new-hire.

Flaps 5 for 95% of takeoffs. Did a flaps 25 out of SNA. On approach, we go flaps 1–>flaps 5–>gear down, flaps 15–>flaps 25—>flaps 30 for a normal landing. Here at my airline, we can do immediate turns at 50 feet on the 737. Needed for Juneau on a special downwind departure we are authorized for. Otherwise it's 400 ft for your run of the mill departure, unless specified.

A common nick name for the A320, and maybe other A3xx, is Fifi. Why? I have no clue, but that's what a few of us called it. The 737 is known as the guppy at UAL.

Not at all. I'll just click off the A/P, maybe the autothrust, and fly the airplane as if I was in a big Cessna 172. Nothing to be nervous about and if they are, they shouldn't be flying professionally.

I've had SSSS two times. Once in BRU and the other in AMS. Both were on non-rev tickets that I booked a day or two prior to the flights. AMS was very quick and the security personnel friendly. In BRU, also a quick and friendly experience. Bags got searched, it took maybe an extra 1-2 minutes.

In three airline interviews, I have never had my GPA brought up. I graduated college with a 3.15 and no one cared, just wanted flight experience, your personality is easy to get along with, etc.

So far in my aviation career, I've flown ERJ-145, ERJ-175 and now the A320. The 145 was my favorite to hand fly, the short wing made it really responsive. E175 handled like a truck. The A320 is fun to hand fly. I'm moving to the 737 soon so we'll see how that one goes.

Back in my regional days, I really enjoyed doing LAX-SAN. We'd be filed for 10,000 feet and got to enjoy nice views of the CA coast. I also enjoyed flying into PWM and doing the harbor visual approach. Basically playing connect the dots with lighthouses and islands before a late turn to runway 29.
