Does UA have enough 789s to launch the new routes without cutting flights on its pre-covid schedule? Does this mean that we will see some pre-covid flights cut? I remember the 789s were stretched pretty thin before the pandemic and they are launching even more routes now and the 789 routes will req...Jump to post
The 76L is more premium heavy than the 752PW units with 64% more F seats and 15 fewer E+/Y seats (76L has 22 PP seats). I could see some use on Transcons, but the majority of use for the 76L would seems to be for LHR. If there is a demand drop TATL on LHR/other premium routes, maybe shifting a few ...Jump to post
I could see all the P&W 777-200 & 200ers parked to standardize the long haul fleet with GE engines. The 767-300s with the Polaris heavy configuration may be the exception in the short term. But all the 763s are equipped with PW engines and haven't they phased out the 764 also because it has...Jump to post
I have a screenshot on my phone that I sent to Bart M. to let him know what is going on and it really looked strange. I tracked few of them so none took a gate so I believe that most of them were repositioning. United has parked their aircraft on 10R/28L runway and central deicing pad as well. A lo...Jump to post
VC10er wrote:When all is completed, how many CRJ550’s will UA have?
I could probably think of many short routes from EWR she would be perfect for - destinations that are horrible 6-8 hour drives, reduced to an hour or so for the CRJ550!
Is Virgin Atlantic sending a one-off flight to Chicago for the Bears Game in London? https://flightaware.com/live/flight/VIR650 That's a good guess. I woulda thought they'd fly United since they are the official airline sponsor, but not sure how the charters work. The team is supposed to fly out to...Jump to post

[quote="drdisque"]Actually most of the E145's at UAX are pretty new. the older ones are operated by Trans States out of ORD and DEN. AA opened Hanger 2 today at ORD. The first new hanger at the airfield in 30 years, and now, also the biggest. Big enough for two 787s or six 737s. https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2019/01/25/new-hangar-ohare-airport-american-airlines/ https://media.bizj.us/view/img/11198944/hangar-2-with-787*750xx8853-...Jump to post
Now there are certain gates that can handle larger aircraft such as B17 since LH parks 748 and 346 aircraft there and UA used to have 744s at C18 and C16 and C20? I think those are probably the only gates that can handle any aircraft larger than a 763. So UA in theory could put some 78s here but wi...Jump to post
As it turns out, I must have missed a United email or did not catch it here. Monday I’m on an old 3 class 772 from EWR to GRU. I selected a seat in J (and it was a Saver Award seat that was remarkably required very few miles! I do love MP!) Anyway I did not know that I could select an old F seat ju...Jump to post
789 N29971 took C1 test hop flight at CHS today. So, these are the two frames needed for IAH>SYD. Cutting it close? Doesn't that start in 10 days? 971 is a sUA 789 and the IAH-SYD route is flown by sCO flight attendants. As mentioned, there's a bit of slack in the 789 fleet right now. Which goes aw...Jump to post
I wonder how SHD is performing now that UA has been in the market awhile. My feel just by looking at loads on random days is that appears that most of the demand on the milk run ORD-LWB-SHD-IAD is being driven by LWB and SHD is contributing very little but I'd be curious to see the full numbers. Ac...Jump to post
Aren't some of the 200s coming from Delta Connection? I remember flying on N871AS last summer when it was still part of the DL CNX fleet. On a separate note, would it make sense for Boeing to develop a 767 MAX in the same manner than Airbus NEO'd the 330? You'd think a long-time 767 operator like UA would look at such a bird to directly replace some 767s. It would, if there was a fitting engine on the market. But in this thurst class...Jump to post
AMERICAN757 wrote:Do you think UA might ever add sharklets to their A319/320 fleet?
Are these two to be retained for ad-hoc use ? I seriously doubt it. All 747's must have fuel tank inserting systems installed in order to fly in 2018. That's a big reason UA decided to retire their 747 fleet early. United is keep 2 B747s for charter use through at least 2020. They will be parked ou...Jump to post

CALTECH, Are you 100% sure about those two A320s coming from China Southern? I haven’t seen any news about this through either UA Inflight or AFA. Do the UA 744s still have proper first class? Yes. Now branded Polaris First. Seats 1A and 1K give the closest thing to a forward view in mainstream commercial aviation. the ua 757's were in bad shape, they got the same bad united maintenance for years. the wings needed so much sheet metal work from neglect, they had to junk them. they fixed a few in houston even after boeing told them not to. My understanding is that bringing birds out of the desert and into an airworthy shape is cost prohibitive, especially for planes that have been out of service for 2+ years and would need all-new interiors, the fuel mod, and many other improvements just to get them back into the air. ORD only B16 so far.
