Maybe it’s going to Asia for heavy maintenance?

There are no UA 747 classics at VCV
Jump to postSaturday night it was a CC-130H Hercules, registered 130335 of Canadian Forces. No clue what it was doing, I suspect a training exercise, but not sure why they would do that on a weekend, during the late evening hours, over a populated area, and at low altitude. It was strange.
Jump to postI flew EWR-ARN on MH in the late 2000s. It also operated on the 777-200, and MH had 5th freedom rights on the route. I clearly remember pushing back from the gate and the pilot announcing on the P/A system that we were roughly #40 for takeoff outta EWR.
Jump to postI'm surprised they don't go 3-4-3 in Economy for shorthaul use.
Jump to postOne of the dumbest ideas I’ve heard in 2019.
Jump to postAs of Saturday afternoon, they were parked in Marana Arizona, wearing N- registrations.
Jump to postEven if it’s 1 or 2%... cut it. It’s wasteful spending. Why do we need a waterfall on the walk down to customs in YVR. For stress relief???
Jump to postWhen AIFs help fund indoor forests, waterfalls, sculptures and fish tanks that’s when it bothers me. They are all unnecessary. Give us functional, clean, efficient terminals without the unnecessary luxury items and keep the AIF fee reduced.
Jump to postSkyliner is incorrect. Cabin re-config was not performed. That plane is still in the J30/Y255 SQ configuration. Just slightly different fabrics for the Economy class cabin.
Jump to postThe OP configuration of over 100 seats in business was gone by the time this route started. It was closer to the OB config that had between 70 and 80 in Business.
Jump to postWhen UA operated JFK-HKG they only had 1 unified pax configured fleet-wide. The high-J configuration was not used on JFK-HKG because the config was retired before the route started. It was used on JFK-NRT about 2 years earlier. Yes, UA did weight restrict the JFK-HKG leg. It blocked between 30-50 se...
Jump to postOne of the 737-800s made it to Newark nonstop last week, and looking at the map it was pretty clear that it was non-ETOPS.
Jump to postI saw about 7 A340s (500s and 600s) at Teruel Spain in November.
Jump to postDTW-SEA 07:00-13:00 are not correct timings, if they are local times.... unless it is taking an extremely scenic routing to get to SEA.
Jump to postI flew the 737-MAX8 into Kuala Lumpur last week. Here's a video of the departure from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur:

NW only served YWGDTW once per week (on weekends) in Summer with a 50-seat CRJ.
Jump to postI was in MHV a few months ago, and got relatively close to C-GAUN. It is still there, relatively intact.
Jump to postmaybe they scale back international flying during U.S. thanksgiving. There isn't much parking space for widebodies on the southeast corner of the field, so maybe they leave them over there.
Jump to postI heard there is pretty much only 1 spare A320 NEO engine worldwide right now. That's how tight the supply is. So if something goes wrong, you can be waiting a long time for an engine change.
Jump to postInteresting analysis, thanks for sharing. How is the MSP-HND flight operated efficiently? CDG-MSP doesn't arrive early enough to turn to MSP-HND, so it seems that DL is sitting a 772 in MSP overnight for 21 hours. MSP-HND and LAX-HND turn to each other but are locked tracks, and don't rotate with th...
Jump to postOttawa service is actually all via Montreal. The 738 will operate twice weekly Ottawa-Montreal to feed into Air Transat's network from Montreal.
Jump to postThe Canadian Airlines-configured 747-400 operated on Vancouver-London during summer, and Calgary-London once one winter season... after the merger... so yes, there would have been 744s in the hybrid livery at Heathrow.
Jump to postAlthough barely noticeable, the blue paint on the tail of C-GJDA appears darker than the rest of the fleet.
Jump to postLast week they had a YTZ-MLB flight that was roughly 4hrs 15mins in the air.
Jump to postIs D-AINA, the first A320NEO being scheduled on specific flights throughout the LH A320 network of flying, or is it flying randomly? I'm interested in flying it soon, so if anyone knows the specific flight schedule of this bird... please share.
Jump to postRoughly how long does it take to install just wifi on say a 737 and/or 767?
Jump to postAs reported by Skyliner, one of the ex Air Canada E190s (C-GWEN) was just ferried from Marana AZ to Stuttgart Arkansas for part-out and scrap. Which means Delta must be getting E190s from not only Air Canada, but someone else also.
Jump to postYOW-FRA is now an A330-300 for summer
Jump to postNot the first time in Canada. Norwegian has diverted to Winnipeg before, enroute to Los Angeles.
Jump to postWhat is the aircraft code for the MAX8 and MAX9? Are they going to stick with 73H, 73J?

I flew BA124 Doha-Bahrain on the 747-400 (92 miles) with flying time about 17 minutes. BA sells local tickets between the two cities also, but it is now operated by the 777-200.
Jump to postWith the 763 sitting on the ground in BOS for that long, can they use the same crew inbound and outbound?

I'm curious to see where all the displaced 77Es are going to be sent, once the 787s start replacing them across the Pacific.
Jump to postI find it extremely hard to believe that FL410 is reachable in 13 mins with a full load. As quoted in the article… "On the first Chengdu flight, "We got to 41,000 feet in 13 minutes," said Andy Raymer, the captain and a 31-year United pilot. "Everybody else is at 32,000, 34,000, 35,000. Jump to postI flew straight overhead Denver at approx 11:30 this morning heading eastbound on AC758 (A319) and we only had very light chop at FL350.

Jump to postHere's a photo of the tail of G-XLEB, taken from G-XLEA as we left Heathrow for Frankfurt this afternoon. Unfortunately I had a dirty window. Jump to postWhat a train wreck of an airline/vision. IMHO the whole idea of creating an airline based out of PHF just makes no sense.
Jump to postI suspect YWG will be a potential market for Icelandair once they get their 737-8 MAX in 5 years.
