Re: Future of Shanghai Airports

I completely agree with the post about airspace management (or lack thereof). I have never seen such inefficient operations at any airport like PVG. The spacing between takeoffs and landings are just ridiciulously inefficient. It’s not unusual with minutes between departing aircrafts. In The western...

Re: Worst-Timed Commerical Flights

I love the early morning arrivals into the EU from the west coast. I think they're incredibly convenient - wheels up at 8pm Los Angeles time, wheels down at 6am in Paris. That would be awesome. 8pm LAX time equals 5am in Paris. Not sure how many flights from LAX to CDG makes it in 1 hour, but that ...

Re: Boston Aviation - Part 10

I arrived from CPH last Thursday on DY7145 (on a 90-95% full flight) and were happy to arrive almost half an hour early. Landed 18.47. But it turned out our gate was occupied by JAL. The JAL 787 left after 15 mins, but was quickly taken by an incoming Icelandair 757. After waiting on the tarmac for ...

Re: AirAsia X announces Istanbul and Barcelona?

Istanbul now? Every other carrier, including TK are reducing on IST. TK's fares are the lowest I have ever seen them. I think it would be rather bad timing . Another problem for AirAsiaX is also developing a hub out of KUL, which are less attractive than some of the other Asian cities. I have a hard...

Re: Cebu Pacific Looking At Additional A330s

The deal is now confirmed. Good news for Cebu Pacific. They are a very nice airline imho. And for Airbus and it's partners of course. Even if it is only two additional A330's. Good with more widebodies although in CebPac-config they are absolute sardine cans. Been flying it a few times back and for...

RE: NZ Not Happy With Transition Time At LAX

I've been flying NZ1/2 several times before US authorities required through flying pax to clear immigration. As I remember it, the first time was probably in 1998, where they just put pax in a secure holding room without any possibility to exit. Another time we had to have our passports checked, but...
