I'd have to agree with the screener's opinions on this one....quality just isn't there.

A resizing down a little bit might help but I would say it will still be iffy....

1 - I like it, I would add it....but I have had other photos rejected myself for poor esthetics as well. And yeah, it does appear just a tad soft.

2 - Looks grainy...the front of the plane is blurred as well

3 - too much clutter in the foreground that takes away from the a/c

Check your Jpeg compression (should be on the Save As screen). Sounds like your over compressing the image.

Its a good shot. Before I would appeal, I would crop it a little bit to get rid of some of the dead space. Try to re-upload it, if its rejected again then try the appeal if you really think its worth it.

I guess it just depends on which screeners are screening when you upload your photos. I have 20 photos in the DB now and the longest I have had to wait for first screening results is about 3 or 4 hours, with the accepted photos being put in the database about 24 hours after that, give or take a litt...

Looks pertty good to me. Maybe try zooming in a little more next time to get rid of some of the ground equipment and rotating it CCW just a little bit. Other than that, a good pic!
