Of course the battles have been fought, etc, etc. I was mainly trying to point to the sort of cliquish nature that has grown from it and the severe inflation of which I think defeats the entire respect rating system.

Obviously I'm a responsible screener as well and don't use that monitor to screen. It does have geometry settings, pincushion, trapezoid, etc., etc. The problem however was resolved and I found the right settings.

Nice shot, but look at how much blue sky is above the F-18. The two aircraft in the lower half of the picture make it very bottom heavy. In addition, the lower parts of the the C-130 are cut off. I like the composition though....flag and crew, etc.

No. The problem is that despite saying how awesome the shot was, you still denounced the picture as being soft and his lens inferior to another lens. The negative outweighs the positive.

Nice, small lens, but make sure you really know your limits with 200. I don't know anything about Denver, but it sounds like you need somethign long. With the 2.8 version, you can add converters (especially the 1.4) and still be in great shape. It is also very, very fast, and much more expensive.

Canon's L prime lenses (most) have IS...the Nikons don't. It may not be necessary in some situations, but it is definitely a bonus that I think pushes Canon ahead. Then again, this may not be important to you...

Canon's L lens selection cannot be topped. If you are starting from scratch, I would recommend the 300D at this point. While the D70 may be better on paper, Canon's lenses reign supreme (their professional lenses). Here is a discussion on pbase that has a lot of good information that may help in you...
