Re: America Trans Air question

I had several flights with ATA. I will say they were a good carrier, at least with my experiences. I flew on their 727’s, 757,s, and 737-800’s. I did not like the MDW hub though, it Was tiny, and crowded. Plus those 727’s came scarily close to the fence when taking off on a summer day! My last trip ...

In 2014, I had a dream trip planned for New Zealand. About 4 or 5 days before I was scheduled to leave, I came down with the flu. I was in bed about 3 days with a fever. Unfortunately, there isn't much any of us can do but wait. The situation is changing by the hour, and no one knows what this will look like in a day, week, or month. I heard a report on the news that it could take 5-8 months before air travel could be restored to near normal. So far, my ATL-SJU trip...

Re: If the Lockerbie bombing never happened, would Pan Am have survived for a longer time?

In my opinion, no. I don't think Pan Am in it's state before the Lockerbie crash would have survived the high fuel prices, and economic slowdown that followed the gulf war in 1991. That year we saw the loss of Eastern, Midway, and Pan Am. PA's domestic route structure wasn't strong, and they had sol...

Re: What in Your Opinion has been the Ugliest Commercial Jet?

Two British jets stand out for me in this category, the Trident, and BAC 1-11. The Trident looked awkward, the nose gear is off center due to the sideways deployment, the engines are too small, the S inlet is a triangular shape, and the add-on rocket booster looked so out of place. The 1-11 sat very...
