According to local reports, both black boxes have already been recovered.

I am very surprised that they didn't get buried...but would that indicate an inflight breakup? They also have not found the tail section last I heard.

This is all extra stuff... stuff that the company really does not have to give you. I do not remember seeing an "on time bonus guarantee" in the papers I signed when I started....I don't even remember a "Profit Sharing guarantee" being in there. You get paid to do a job, you know...

I used to handle the SY 73 at Dulles, always pretty good loads from what I can remember. I guess they moved to bring passengers closer to downtown.

Crews were always pleasant and if there were breakfasts left from the inbound, even enjoyed a nice meal between flights.

Some of the best meals at the airport as a ramp rat were 1st class and charter flight uneaten meals. ALWAYS make friends with the catering guys, back at DFW I had a few friends who worked for Dobbs and they would always leave meals for us. Became hit and miss as food service dried up.

My favorite bags were the 80lb ones with Fragile tags on them and the plastic cloth/spiral zipped Asia bags. The heavier the bag, the better chance it will be on the bottom of the stack in the plane, cart, container. Luggage is made for clothing and travel items, the bag is there to keep those items...

What upsets me most about this... is how they state the new handler will re-hire some of the affected staff but at starting wages. Then expect them to use the knowledge obtained during their time with the contracted carrier to work the contract. I have even seen some contract handlers hire laid off ...

Worked for ServisAir at KIAH for about 3 months. It's the backyard station for corporate...and was one of the worst experiences I ever had.

Swissport did not last here in Houston when they tried last time... hopefully they will put in a better managerial system when the takeover is complete.
