Our Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 are washed during an idle run for 4 minutes and then wait for the engine to stabilize for 2 minutes then perform a normal engine shutdown.

One more thing that 747skipper obviously knows but didn't post for your question. EPR is normally used as a parameter to determine the amount of thrust an axial-flow turbojet or turbo fan engine is producing since that can't be determined the most accurately.

The avionics of the C-17 are so protected from heat that a warning horn goes off and the Left and Right <acronym title="Avianca (Colombia)">AV</acronym> busses trip if the temp is over 90 degrees. It can be over-ridden BUT, I sure wouldn't want to be the one making that decision to overheat millions...

Nobody mentioned that Boeing's Phantom Works is helping design the space shuttle of tomorrow. There is a great picture of a Northrop Grumman/Orbital Sciences "Orbital" in the February 2003 issue of Bedford's Tech Edge.

Here maybe an oddball question for you. I have seen some pictures from various people here on A.net of 737-800 without winglets. I was told that all of the -800 have them. I have personally seen -800's with them. What gives??

I had to use in on a Dual overhead cam sparkplug change two nights ago. The ball was getting weak on my ratchet extension and I taped the spark plug socket on.
