I hope it means United will launch more service to Scandinavia once their A321XLRs start arriving. Although that was likely to happen anyway. SAS didn't really bring much to the table for Star Alliance. It'll still have the best network in Europe of the three alliances.

People are reading way too much into this. United is merely trying to get government zoning approval to do basically whatever they want with their land. It would be corporate malfeasance not to do so. This doesn't mean squat.

I agree. AA should put its ORD hub out of its misery (though I realize that’ll never happen), and consolidate around hubs where it can provide competent service. It's just a matter of time and likely a combination of all the factors you mentioned that is causing them to delay a launch. They definitely have nice facilities on the ORD side now (although much of T5 is still an under construction mess) and can certainly handle more growth.

The ORD situation:

United is now 50% larger than American by seat count and 25% larger by number of flights. United is 60% mainline while American is 40%. United serves 158 destinations while American is at 123.

The disparity between the two seems a lot larger than I recall it being?

None of the "big bonuses" you mentioned are unique to Southwest except for free checked bags, which every semi-frequent flyer would also get on the big 3. And then your "parts I accepted" are largely not applicable for the big 3. So what is the actual unique benefit?

Final tally is over 300 flights cancelled this weekend. Monday already has over 100 cancellations and 77 for Tuesday so far. Lot of apologists here for AAs poor decision making.

I booked three June flights today before the schedule got updated (for Newark at least) and all of them ended up getting slightly changed (thankfully no issues). Looking now, the price for each of them shot up by $100-$300. Timed that right it seems.
