No doubt down to the ongoing 787 Engine issue if indeed it is a spare stored off site I’d love to know the logistics of bringing it out of storage especially when it’s stored at an airport with limited flights from any VS base, and no guarantee of availability when they need, so do they drive a fli...

I'm sure if you want to go back to paying BOAC fares, whilst losing IFE and flat beds in premium cabins they would be happy to.

I would grumble about a 4 hour bus ride finishing my air trip. But were it done moderately expeditiously only a grumble. I've had it happen on a train trip. Annoying, did not ruin my day. Their bus journey would have been a lot longer than 4 hours. It would be a minimum of 10 hours+, plus 2 sometim...

Re: Why the different flight routings from LAX to DOH, ABU and DXB?

The 380 will be a lot higher a lot earlier than the 777. This could totally change the best routing. You'll see the same even within the same airline where the type is different.

Re: SFO BA A380 takeoff on 1R?!?!

It is all to do with take-off performance and balanced field length. Basically the aircraft has to accelerate to V1, lose one engine, become airborne and clear a 35ft obstacle however, the airborne part does not have to be over paved surface. Where the runway meets the sea, as in this case, it mean...

AFAIK Pax still on the plane since Goose Bay airport can't provide stairs for an A380 Isn't Goose Bay a common diversion point for international flights? Why wouldn't they have stairs for an A380? An A380 is higher than a 747, for which the airfield would be prepared. Main deck door height is lower...

Re: SFO BA A380 takeoff on 1R?!?!

I normally suggest 01R for departure from SFO. It probably saves 20-30 minutes on block time on the way back to LHR and there's plenty of performance in hand. You will always get a bigger thrust derate on 28 though, so some colleagues were initially keen to use 28. I think more people are getting us...

You might get a refurbished 744 with a better screen, ports, power, etc. I've flown the BA 744 many times in all cabins and it's overall a comfortable ride. Plus the flight to BOS is not that long so it shouldn't be too much of a pain. Barring last minute changes the 744s to BOS are all refurbished...

Hey before we all pile on, it's only fair to point out that long range ETOPS a/c like A350/777/787 have lengthy ratings, not any particularly "ability". Look, most of these modern planes could still complete a long haul mission (given degraded aerodynamics/range) on 1 engine - BUT, a 1 en...

BA A380s require 22 cabin crew. It will always be that. It can do down due to sickness but only away from base. But leaving London it will always carry the 22! That's not correct. The minimum flight manual crew complement is 18. It just happens that the 'reduced' number down route is the same as th...

As this topic has been beaten to death, let's all get it out in the open one last time! The requirement for cabin crews are based on the actual number of seats in the cabin. So, if the cabin has 151 seats and 1 passenger booked, then it will need 4 cabin crew. For each 50 SEATS, you need 1 cabin cr...
