Just a guess here:

If the 777 left from one of the primary runways, the jets behind would have to wait a few minutes for takeoff clearance due to wake turbulence spacing. Using a different runway, the 777 departure doesn't disturb other outbound flights.

This is a normal takeoff (no crosswinds, etc). The runway is on a weird angle to the camera, thus causing the illusion that the plane is taking off from the taxiway. If you look closely, you can tell the plane is heading the same direction as the runway.

AA doesn't need an entire new terminal at ORD at this point. The terminal just needs a simple touch-up. That is exactly what the O'hare FACE project, which is already in progress, intends to do.

Boeing should be ashamed if they kept the original sharkfin tail and it ended up performing worse than the new standardized one. I doubt any customers are going to have a problem that Boeing improved its design.
