OW badly needs an African based airline. There is none except BA South African domestic flights operated by Comair.
Star has got 3; South African, Ethiopian and Egyptair. Skyteam has Kenya. So the obvious candidates are all gone.
May be Royal Air Maroc and Rwandair? But please not Nigerian.

There is an excellent book on this subject called "Beyond the Blue Horizon" by Alexander Frater. He follows the same route of Imperial Airways planes. I read it in mid-1980s. It is still available at Amazon.
