The ULCC would need to be strategic in entering into MIA. Spirit was able to make huge inroads into ORD and DFW and is now the 3rd largest at ORD. You would need to pick a market not already served by AA out of MIA and then add slowly so you can muscle for the fight.

As the FL hometown airline strategy is being executed, this seems to make sense. They should add FLL-JAX-DTW and connect all of the destinations they serve there. Kind of like what they have done with MCO and ATL.

I would think that 7 DC-10 would require much more than 150 FAs and 45 Pilots. You need about 150 FAs per plane depending on frequency of use and maybe 24 pilots. ATA has not announced any schedule changes for the fall which makes me think they have something brewing. If they are going to get the DC-10s that would change a lot of things with the schedule service arena even if slightly. For one they need to head back to Florida we miss them here!

ATA is doing better than expected. Management is keeping tight lipped about specific numbers but are indicating success.

Wow.. a 757-300 on that route, that's hot! It sounds like ATA could really use a bigger plane on that route permanently if they are not going to do another R/T. They lack A/C and slots from what I hear so it would only make sense.
