AnadoluJet is reinstating Ankara ESB to Siirt thrice weekly direct flights from October 28th, 2019. It seems that AnadoluJet will put an A319 on this route that is the only aircraft in TK inventory to fly into this runaway restricted destination. Yes you are right, the decline at ESB pax nuabers is now linked to 7373 MX crisis that forced THY to fly with -24 narrow boides and they are utilizng AnadoluJet planes at IST and cut capacity at ESB considerably since June this year. TK needs to accept the offer first and foremost, that did not happen as of yet. If they accept it can happen as soon as the start of winter timetable or next year summer timetable that is end of March 2020. We will see. 787 is a great product for this route and could do it very cost efficiently than...

With 15 million pax per annum capacity reached at ESB last year the airport needs a rail/subway connection but there is no funding available for the project unfortunately.. I wonder if with the economic recession in Turkey this will happen soon, the existing subway line extension is not happening so...

The negotiations for YVR has been ongoing since 2014, nothing agreed as of this moment, it is up to TK to accept or to reject it. Canadian Civil Aviation Authority offered 2 slots per week for YVR IST
It is up to TK to accept it now
TK’s request for additional slots at Toronto and Montreal was declined
I sincerely hope TK goes forward with Vancouver launch, it will be a good start for a new beginning

The better option is to launch direct service from China to Ankara so this can support a year-round operation. I think there should be flights between Greek isles and Bodrum during the summer, small narrow body a/c would be ideal. Bodrum Mykonos in particular, wonder why Atlas Global or Aegean does not do that.

Doesn't AC cooperate with EK in DXB? Why can't they make a similar agreement with TK? They could easily operate YVR flights and I am sure a new ASA could be signed . Pan Am served ESB from many years from when ESB opened in 1955 until it went out off business. There were stopovers in Europe (Rome, Paris or Frankfurt) flights extended on to Ankara with a mix of additional stopovers in ATH or IST. Just checked in for my return direct flight from Ankara to London later today by TK, 100% full flight in Business and packed Economy, this route needs larger Business cabin and the frequency should increase from twice weekly to at least 4 weekly for now and daily in the summer timetable.
