Wonder if they would build a new tower right next to the current one or a totally different location? If a new location I wonder where they would opt to locate it. I know right now ATC can't see aircraft on the opposite side of the terminal, either at a gate or when they're in the taxilane, so a lo...
Jump to postIMO SAN is getting attention due to it being a hot (pun intended) leisure destination while SJC is getting a pullback, in part, due to its business-centric profile. Tech companies aren’t traveling much right now. I also think the competitive factors are at play, too. Definitely the case. Other airp...

Possible. I do think FAT will gain another route to east of the Rockies soon. But I wonder if AA would decide to start FAT-CLT before DL starts FAT-ATL. I believe Fresno is the largest or second largest US airport not served by DL from ATL. AA still has a number of larger airports not served from C...

Congrats to FAT. Just wish this were during better economic times. Hopefully this can really add some oomph to their service/numbers.

Jump to postUpdate: The flight I was rebooked on for tonight also cancelled. Seems like this is just turning into rolling cancellations now. Good luck getting in or out of PDX on AS this week. I finally had enough and booked the last flight on WN tonight.
Jump to postMy PDX-SJC flight tomorrow was cancelled. Hoping to get rebooked for the (currently still un-cancelled) last flight of the day. The wait time for a call back is 3 hours right now...

SMF is doing much better than any of the Bay Area airports as far as percentage down.
Jump to postPersonally I'd prefer a PDF version. Sure, for those of us who collect them, having something physical you can touch is nice, but there's increasingly little reason to ignore the fiscal and environmental savings that going digital brings.

Good luck, but suspect it will be brutal with so many overlapping competitors.
Well today would have been the day for the first scheduled 747 flight to SJC. BA has suspended SJC service until April 30, and the flight is still scheduled to be operated with a 744 after that, but everything is still up in the air for now. Honestly, I'll just be happy if BA doesn't pull out altog...

Look at the other routes. All cancelled for the entire filed schedule. Is HU dead?
Looks like HU PEK-SJC might be finished. Down to two intercontinental flights assuming NH and BA return.
Jump to postNH will suspend TYO-SJC service after March 24, leaving only BA for intercontinental service with HU indefinitely suspended. No word yet if BA will be suspending as well with the European travel ban and SJC not being one of the 13 approved airports for travelers coming from non-UK Europe.
Jump to postLooking like the new daytime BOS-SJC flight is nixed?
Jump to postFrontier adding seasonal daily PHX-SJC starting 4/23. Frankly it's the most reasonable dart they've thrown at the board so far from SJC considering the relatively high fares on this route. Looks to be 1x daily unfortunately, not going to be the most useful for single-day business occasions. Departs ...

Jump to postI did some digging and it appears Azores Airlines likely doesn't serve OAK anymore. They have no longer operate a fleet type that can do non-stop OAK-TER, and Oakland is not listed as a destination on their website (all searched itineraries go through BOS and connect on B6). OAK may be reduced to Me...
Jump to postInterestingly, AM seems to save them. They cancelled GDL-SJC earlier this year, then brought it back for a month using the same flight numbers. Maybe they just don't have a big enough network to require reuse.
Jump to postAgreed that it was foreshadowed. Perhaps yields at SFO are just too significant to ignore compared to OAK. I just don't see any domestic carrier jumping in to start long-haul routes from OAK, and most foreign carriers already serve SFO. Looks like it'll probably a return to the pre-DY status quo for...
Jump to postLooks like DEN-SJC is suspended after 4/21.
Jump to postSo it's been awhile, but I guess I'll resuscitate this. So far for 2020, SJC will have added service to: AUS on AA YYZ on AC PVR on AS KOA and LIH on WN B6 adding a summer daytime BOS frequency BA upgauging LHR to a 747 for the summer (honestly hard to believe this is happening) NH switching from NR...

Jump to postOk, so MSY and MCO are both running 1x/weekly? If I recall, ABQ started as 1x/weekly then went to daily? I thought they suspended ABQ with the Max thing? Sigh, I can’t keep up! Of those 51 routes, they have cancelled 25 as of March 2020:
28 including SJC-JFK, SJC-DAL and SJC-SNA
They announced SJC-PVR on Facebook. Not sure if this is new or returning. They also posted a rather curious SJC route map with it and JFK is off it. Looked in May and it is off the schedule. It also shows SLC on the map. No scheduled flights for that. So not sure if that is a mistake or they’re bri...

Jump to postIs the timing on these changes related to when incentives for the routes are expiring, or have those already ended?
Jump to postThis is interesting. I follow SJC very closely, and there are guys on here who seem to have the inside scoop on things. Nobody had previously said they were going to WN. So AM is back at SJC? They been totally out for over a year, right?
It looks like it. AM will be the 3rd airline on GDL-SJC after Alaska and Volaris it seems.
Be nice if this meant they could restart FRA-SJC with more efficient equipment.
Jump to postFAT does happen to be the smallest airport by passenger count that DL has any presence in for all of California. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing as far as future prospects for growth.
