At the end of the day, the cap on incoming passengers is hurting local airlines. PAL has a very small quota to work with. They can’t sustain an international network with departures alone. PAL will have to rely on domestic flights, and even that market has shrunk.

It’s actually quite amazing at how adding a BRU leg to almost any nonstop flight from AMS will immediately depress the price. It can almost encourage a person to just take a train to BRU from the Netherlands to catch the cheaper flight.

The O/D numbers between DOH and MNL don’t justify the extra frequencies that QR is asking for. No country is obliged to open their most congested airport to a sixth freedom carrier.
