Exactly how much are the fee's? SAN can't serve both populatons forever. TIJ had 7 Millons pax and growing. There must be a few that would fill up a flight to a popular resort where the taxes probably represent a few spins at the casino gone in 15 minutes and a direct nonstop flight would save hours.Jump to post
I think Volaris should try out TIJ-LAS. I can't believe this has never been tried before. Maybe this would be more up VivaAerobus's alley.Jump to post
Anyone know the reason Gate 2 is closed? I’ve noticed baggage carts and tugs parked over the empty space. Been like that since I parked at gate 1 on 6/23 and also 7/7. Is the jetway still there, at gate 2? Maybe that has to be replaced. WN has been using 2-3 gates in T1W for a few months now so may...Jump to post
Did the Jetstream 32 with its pressurized cabin offer more passenger comfort than the Embraer or the Saab? Both the EMB-120 and Saab 340 were pressured too. The EMB-110 was not but I don't know if those ever served the SAN-LAX route. The Jetstream 32 was fine, pretty similar in overall comfort. No ...Jump to post
How did 1995 spike to 245,000 when other years around it averaged in the 220,000's? I don't remember that year being that extraordinary. What I find interesting is that last year there were more flights, more non-stops, more pax then ever but it had the same number of operations as the 1990's. There...Jump to post
I picked up my first "San Diego International Airport Flight Schedule" starting May 1967 when I flew to Germany for the summer and resumed the practise on a monthly basis from Oct 1967 to sometime in the late 1990's and still have that collection safely tucked away. I even wrote to every a...Jump to post
I was going to watch the Edelweiss A340 come in today but noticed WK18 was cancelled today. They must be one plane short. Seems like it, one of their 4 returned back to ZRH while bound for EZE (reg. HB-JMG) on 5/29 and was out of service until today. Hi guys. I hope it was that mx issue rather than...Jump to post
Hey gang, according to RoutesOnline, posted on Monday: London Heathrow – San Diego eff 29MAR20 747-400 continues to operate in summer 2020 season, replacing 777-300ER in S19 So our speculation up-thread regarding Speedbird for next year has been clarified -- 'The Queen' (of the Skies) will be flyin...Jump to post
I'm surprised COPA hasn't started service to TIJ to initially introduce service to the region. TIJ is probably less expensive to operate out of and being Latin America, they share a similar culture and the same language. Scheduling wise, they could do a quick 60 minute midnight turn around, somethin...Jump to post
It would be nice to see the SAN-NRT flight on JL switch to HND. However, due to a lack of PR service to SAN (despite a Filipino population of over 200,000), I was under the impression JL carries a good number of SAN-MNL passengers though NRT. Since HND does not accommodate that type of connection, m...Jump to post
I was too young to remember taking this flight in 1961 but I do remember our 1964 trip. The first leg was on a WA Electra SAN-LGB-SFO and connected to LH SFO-YUL-ORY-FRA. The return was FRA-LHR-YUL-ORD and our connecting flight was the speedy Convair 990 from ORD-SAN on AA. Been hooked on aviation e...Jump to post

Here's the basics of a post I just made on the latest OAG thread; I thought I'd post it here as well... A couple of quick comments regarding AA's JFK-SAN route which apparently will be disappearing soon. According to my records, AA started serving the route in the mid-60s (perhaps 1965-67?) It was,...Jump to post
99% chance that is was a 727-200. The 737's flew out of LGB and ONT around that time period.Jump to post

This is probably a stupid question that has been asked a million times and I’m to lazy to look, but is there any way San Diego could add a second runway. Yes. They could re-open the second runway. Doing this would require them to relocate the air cargo ramp. The second runway was closed because it ...Jump to post
I was wondering. Can the SSJ100 depart from the short CLD runway (4897') to at least reach the bay area?Jump to post

Does DL have enough gates to operate 50-55 flights a day? The reason I ask is that the A220 would seem like a good fit to operate a focus cityat SAN opening more non-stops to the east. They already carry more pax on the ORF-SAN route then any other carrier plus RDU is strong in the region. CVG and M...Jump to post
AS should strengthen their Southwestern US portfolio by adding PHX, TUS, SAT and OKC. On the west coast, SBP and RNO could be a couple of adds as well. The NK build up of flights between SAN-LAS will probably keep AS out of this market and I'm very surprised NK isn't in the SAN-OAK market which coul...Jump to post
Okay, the "Lindbergh Limited" would share all trolley stops to allow for transfers or for passenger drop off. Carlsbad could be the next STS or PAE. Just give it time. Lindbergh only has so much room and so does SNA to the north. Alaska could have a larger presence in San Diego County by serving CLD, something WN couldn't do with their larger jets. Start with SJC and SMF with thru service to PDX and SEA on ...Jump to post
I too noticed TIJ using RWY 9 which seems strange as it was a clear day with a slight breeze and RWY 9 is rarely used to begin with. Why in the heck would a Addis Ababa-St. Paul (I assume they mean MSP)-San Diego route be on Guangzhou's route wishlist?. Doesn't ET already fly CAN-ADD?
