The BA 744 can get out of SAN just fine for a flight to LHR, and EK's 77L does a flight of similar distance out of FLL, without payload restrictions IIRC. If AS wants to keep growing in the San Diego area, they should consider CLD with their fleet of Q400s and E175s to SFO/OAK/SJC and SMF. It would be a great way to further compete with WN considering their limited space at Lindbergh Field. With the short 4900' runway at CLD, I'm sure WN won't show up...

Hopefully CUN on either AS or WN is next.

My guess the AS answer back will be a ABQ non-stop along with a gradual build up in the Southwest region such as ELP, AUS and DAL. On a side note, the DAL flights should continue on to DCA twice a day to dominate that market.
