RE: KLM And Skyteam

Well after the merger between Air France and KLM I think sooner or later KLM is going to join the Skyteam alliance. You're right there. KLM joining SkyTeam is part of the deal. The deal is scheduled to close around April 2004. And no doubt there will be some restructuring of KLM's frequent fl...

RE: Ignorant Questions Or Statements.

The ignoramus. Didn't she know it belongs in the hold?

RE: Cessna VS Airbus

You could easily turn the C172 into an intercontinental plane by fitting it with a refueling probe. Then you could send them across the Atlantic in squadrons, accompanied by a suitably slow flying tanker of course.

That's an idea - but will they have PTVs?

RE: How Did KLM Get Its Name?

KLM was formed in 1919 by Albert Plesman with the support of the Dutch government and Queen Wilhelmina. Queen Wilhelmina granted the company a royal warrant enabling it use the title "Royal Dutch" - thus came about the name Royal Dutch Airlines and, as stated above, the original Dutch version of the...

RE: Predictions For 2004

With Air France-KLM deal finalised, NW and CO announce they will join the SkyTeam alliance. I'll hazard a guess and say this will come sometime in April 04.

RE: New Cockpit Doors And Firearms

I vehemently oppose the arming of the flight deck crew. We all know that guns and civil airliners don't mix. This measure is a total over reaction to the terrorist threat, and indeed, does not even have the support of the industry. Franklin Roosevelt said that "we have nothing to fear but fear itsel...

RE: Concorde - No Speical Flypasts!

From the London Times: Mr Eddington said there was no prospect of keeping one of the jets for non-commercial flights at public events. "The technical and financial challenges of keeping a Concorde airworthy are absolutely prohibitive," he said. "Airbus has told us that they are unable to support ...

RE: Will Virgin Ever Do Short/Medium Haul Flights?

Virgin and bmi were in talks about a possible merger earlier this year. However, bmi called off the talks as its' management did not feel there was enough to gain from such a merger and further both parties could not agree upon the valuations for the respective airlines. As Sabena 690 mentioned Virg...

RE: Do U Prefer Non-stop Flights Or Stopping Enroute?

Whilst I enjoy traveling I prefer getting there by a direct route and preferably non-stop. This is especially true when zooming over a heap of time zones.
