American Airlines relaunched LAX-AKL last night for the season... ...and announced DFW-AKL and LAX-CHC. Lol. I posted this a couple of hours ago but it appears to be deleted. Guess the mods don't think a new airline flying a new unserved route into New Zealand is anything to do with New Zealand avi...Jump to post
Thanks NZ1 very long gap between MZE and MZF delivery dates over a year. Just wondering which -500 will stay on the longest. As not always the youngest one that they decide to keep on going it's usually by number of cycles. A few months back someone had a list that they are all available for sale a...Jump to post
Maybe CHC-PPQ then? Totally forgot about PPQ-CHC! Yes PPQ-CHC was the last domestic route that wasn't launched as a trial/seasonal I hadn't thought about it either until I saw your post, easy to forget about that one. CHC-PPQ-CHC operated between November 2013 - February 2016 when another AKL-PPQ-A...Jump to post
With NZ's launch of AKL-IVC, I tried to think of the last domestic route NZ added, does anyone know? Either AKL-Masterton with the 1900D or AKL-PPQ with the Q300. Pretty certain it was AKL-PPQ. Maybe CHC-PPQ then? Totally forgot about PPQ-CHC! Yes PPQ-CHC was the last domestic route that wasn't lau...Jump to post
"Speculation is swirling that Jetstar may stop regional services, including Hawke's Bay, after it was revealed the carrier is making a loss on provincial services." So no confirmation - just speculation and rumour, at this stage. See: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/news/artic...Jump to post
There’s 2 sides to that coin... 1) Qantas (Kangaroo) isn’t a natural choice for kiwis being obviously Australian vs Jetstar which is more neutral despite being owned the same and having the appearance/appeal of looking cheaper by being a LCC. 2) Conversely, JQ doesn’t appeal to business travelers o...Jump to post
Hey guys, Jetstar is pulling out Hawkes Bay Airport, they say, New Plymouth, other services they have for domestic airports could be possibly affected. Source for this rumour? Any information of monthly one way passenger movement from Wellington to Singapore taking SQ 247/248? Sadly this information is next to impossible to gather as I don't believe New Zealand does certain airport to airport movements compared to Australia (via BITRE) which lists load factors for every ...Jump to post

They're buying more 787s anyway, so that will take up some staff with a reasonably small amount of retraining. Presumably a reasonable amount of the 787crew are qualified (though lapsed) on the A320 as that will have been the training pathway since the decline in 737s. Think you'll find the 787 cre...Jump to post
Was doing a quick search last night for WLG - DTW fares for June next year to see if any UA flights were still scheduled for B757s. Some days only one flight via IAH came up, with other dates via IAH and LAX. Didn't see any ORD flights comes up. What surprised me was RAR came up as a booking option...Jump to post

I'm hearing rumours that JQ are planning to pull out 2 aircraft from New Zealand. Not sure whether they are both A320's or one of each. I presume the CHC-SYD cancellation is part of that. Anyone know any more? Mainly a Tasman reduction replaces by QF maybe? Or use Australian based aircraft instead ...Jump to post
Sales on NZ18/19 between AKL-LAX are typically locked down to offer no availability unless looking at a journey that starts of ends in RAR, at least by default. Air NZ doesn't want passengers being booked onto AKL-RAR-LAX when there is sometimes 2x daily direct, it creates a terrible customer exper...Jump to post
I just wanna point out that from Air NZ's website booking system, the only way to get on the RAR-LAX leg of NZ18/19 is to search specifically for RAR-LAX, either directly or via multistop (like AKL-RAR-LAX). The RAR-LAX leg is not available to be booked as an AKL-LAX or LAX-AKL journey. I think thi...Jump to post
It seems we could have the return of Nauru Airlines to NZ skies as early as November on behalf of Real Tonga. X2/weekly TBU-AKL with the goal of x3/weekly as quickly as possible. Good luck to them, certainly a far less ambitious schedule to begin with than their Samoan counterparts. https://matangi...Jump to post
Hearing some rumours from a (normally) reliable source that SQ are looking to introduce the A350 to Wellington services. The talk is they will be seen from August. Not sure if that will be the end of the 772's or whether we might see a mix for a while. Anyone heard anything similar? I believe all 7...Jump to post
The B757 serves a unique purpose similar to the AS B732C/B73GC with the capability of having half freight/medical/disaster relief supplies and half passenger loads. I've seen the B757s loading after the CHC/Kaikoura/Seddon earthquakes at WLG in combi mode. IMHO the replacement will also be a combi m...Jump to post
Agree - this has to be the front-runner for any new AA service here. The connections through DFW are growing - like with AA's new DFW - DUB flight, launching this week. Cheers, C. The first A320NEO International service for WLG arrived yesterday from BNE. Today -NHA operated WLG-MEL-WLG-BNE.

... rapid transit in Wellington. On a slightly related note, have heard a rumour that the Airport Flyer bus will be discontinued. The cost from the CBD is something like NZD 12, when you can often get an Uber for something like NZD 17-18, so it wouldn't surprise me. Also - relating to Wellington - ...Jump to post
