I'm never sure what to believe in the Nigerian media, but ARIK's own facebook page indicates there are disruptions. Can anyone confirm?
Terrible time of the year for this to happen with so many passengers traveling before Christmas.
I can't see this ending well! It's impossible to make long haul working without any economies of scale and without any feed. One cannot simply rely on O&D traffic unless the routes are incredibly high yielding, which DAR will certainly not provide. I can't see anyone willing to provide feed on ...Jump to post

http://atwonline.com/airlines/fuel-shor ... operations Does anyone know which flights are being cancelled? Their website doesn't have much information. Something I've never understood about SAA. If their planes just sit on the ground all the day in Europe, why do their flights leave around dinner time rather than late at night? LH from JNB to FRA departs at 1910 and arrives FRA at 0550. This makes sense because they want their aircraft in FRA to us...Jump to post
The economy in Nigeria seems to be falling and i see that some ARIK flights have been cancelled. But ARIK website doesn't have a flight status option so i can't see on their website. Things again look bad for Camair. I'm amazed they can keep operating.
PrivatAir's 737s for LH and SK are flat: Apparently Transaero had some flat bed seats on some 737s as well: http://www.flugrevue.de/zivilluftfahrt/ ... eil/534514 I see that Transaero went out of business. Hey guys, Anyone knows what happening with the 787 HB-JJJ of EC AIR (operated by Private Air)? The aircraft seems to be stored since last year. I know that Private Air is going to withdraw from EC AIR and that TUI Belgium is going to fly their aircrafts, but does anyone have any update? What happen...Jump to post
Why did they suspend services before? I didn't even know they flew to SIN previously.Jump to post
Actually, SAA;s big problem is government interference. They are forced to launch unprofitable routes like JNB-PEK for geo-politcal reasons and then can't form a coherent business strategy because the government replaces their CEO seemingly every 6 months. It is a sad situation... also PER-JNB is s...Jump to post

News out of Nigeria seems very bad, with fuel shortages, devalued currency, and power outages at main airport in Lagos.

More money dumped into an operation that probably has no hope of making money. Guangzhou? Can't they just let the airline disappear? How much money has been dumped into Camair-Co already?
Looks like a Gulf Air flight was just about to arrive at IST and turned around. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/GFA45 I'm curious that THY flights are still arriving/departing. I think I read that THY are the only ones allowed to land. Foreign airlines being diverted. Obviously right now if I wa...Jump to post

There are lots of 5th freedoms in Africa by African carriers. Air Cote d'Ivoire operates FNA-ROB, LBV-BZV, LBV-PNR, LBV-FIH, and DLA-NDJ. ASKY operates BKO-CKY, DLA-BGF, LBV-BZV, LBV-FIH, OXB-DKR, CKY-DKR, ABV-NSI, ABV-NDJ, DLA-NDJ, NSI-LBV, OUA-NIM, LOS-DLA, LOS-LBV and DLA-LBV. ARIK operates ACC-R...Jump to post
They will have a tough go at it. Lots of competition and very low fares. DAR fares are REALLY low. Insanely low. WB is going to get torn to shreds. https://www.ghanabusinessnews.com/2016/ ... t-in-2015/ This article says that ASKY made a $4m profit in 2015. I agree with a lot of posters so far. The old site was great for desktop. This site isn't.
