The thought about the 757 jigs and production line crossed my mind the other day and I couldn't find what happened to it. Does Boeing still have it? Is the production line still intact? I would agree here. Discounting any deals/deposits with Airbus, the 777-9 would seem to be the winner here hands down. with the Airbus deposits, the A350-900 or 1000 could be an option although with the 787's already on order seems to a degree a bit redundant. I would assume that this order will be for the B787 8 and 9 and the A350-1000 and more A330-300's. The first part I am pretty sure of, especially that they already have 20 some B787 frames on order complements of Northwest and that is a market segment where the 787 superiority is pretty much unconte...

Finally they've come to realize this! A good 757 replacement that would have legs for TATL, good short-field performance, and about 15% fuel savings (achievable with new wing, more plastic, new engines) could open up many direct secondary markets and stay true to Boeing's point-to-point vision.
