I can't help but think that Skippers needs a Gilligans as well. A little known "fact" (of the kind believed by certain world leaders) was that the series "Lost" was inspired by "Gilligan's Island".
Enjoyed the read and the photos, thanks!
Thanks VapourTrails for this lovely report. So nice to read about a real flight in our neck of the woods rather than just another unattainable business or first class luxury fest. My son did a school project last year about the Lord Howe Island stick insect (good animation about it here: https://vim...Jump to post
So Lion Air have a hexagon theme going on, kind of like a previous Qantas theme or honeybees... Just hope that the safety focus extends to the pilots. That ABC report on Indonesian aviation a year or two ago was a bit scary. Have you hung around in Adelaide so long that you've forgotten spices? Tsk,...Jump to post
Awesome photos. Was the airport built for more traffic in the past? Or are there a reasonable number of private or charter flights?Jump to post
Domestically, yields are what saves CBR. However, where you could once get B737s quite easily between SYD-CBR during peak times, you'll be lucky to get a B717. The Federal Government is also trying decentralise the APS so the population of CBR won't be growing fast anytime soon and is still recover...Jump to post

Anyone know how the SQ Capital Express flights are going? Any rumours of future international flights to Canberra? Does anyone know the routing of the PM's jet to get to Lima? Sorry but what does PER offer over DXB or even SIN/HKG/BKK as the stopover option? There is no time saving for flyers from SYD/MEL/BNE compared with routing vs DXB or QF's previous ports of SIN/HKG/BKK. Also you are flying one heck of long segment from PER-LHR/LHR-PER which means your costs are goi...Jump to post
Great to see you back! One thing to admire about MH is their consistency. You may remember that I did that flight 5 years (and a couple of weeks) ago on MH's 747. From your report, despite it being on an A380 and in business, it looks like MH have managed to replicate that experience with a worn air...Jump to post

I like that kind of spontaneity, not that I've ever done that myself as yet. You have a photo of a sat in lie flat mode. Did you notice anyone actually using their seats as such on what sounds like a short flight?

Possibly was as your aircraft VH-QOI doesn't appear to have completed any scheduled services since but looks like it may now have repositioned to MEL though FlightRadar is a bit unclear on this. QF2131 CBR - MEL was cancelled today due to a heavy landing and the need to inspect the aircraft. Apparently all passengers were accommodated on other flights. I've been giving some thought as to why the font is no longer in italics and I wonder if it is because "QANTAS" now appears on the underbelly. Italics along the side imply motion, but on the underbelly they would introduce an asymmetry that may look quite odd.Jump to post
Apart from a few "tweaks" over the years, QF aircraft still carry the basic livery that was introduced on the B747-300s over 30 years ago! ummm.the gold trim has bean 'lost' for years!!! Yeah, I only noticed that when I looked at tayser's post of the liveries through the years! I do agree with the comment about the white hats and that was the first thing I noticed back in the launch .. IIRC the government / air force here might have one or two of the new Russian planes? Hope I get another flight on one before they disappear from Australian skies.
