Sounds like EYW had been silvers money maker routes? Feeding other carriers mostly. Problem for Silver is that traffic might take a while to come back. Key West lost its really busy spring season and probably summer.

Really tragic situation for just so many. the economic fallout is gonna be real.
Juneau and Skagway and are not places you can drive too, with no cruises it will be devastating for restaurants ,shops the whole towns. I can't even see cruises back in 2021 summer unless there is a vaccine .

Definitely makes cents to me. Those are all money losers until demand comes back. Rather them do this exit then just cancel every single flight everyday . The slots are safe there is a waiver in place that airlines don't have to use them right now .

Yeah Olympics are a good question. Could also have given united a whole year of being the sponsor for free. Totally depends how the contract was written. Could be after the Tokyo Olympics giving united a whole year as their sponsor for free. Interesting but both airlines have way more pressing issue...

No summer schedule will be reliable right now. Look at how many cancellations we see everyday they can't keep up. We will see lots more cancellations as planes are parked and mothballed, they can't handle summer schedules right now.

I do not think any big 3 hubs will be shut. Some may come back slower than others. Domestic hubs I see come back much sooner than international heavy ones. It's impossible for most people in India to self isolate. Very good move for them. Europe, NA, Russia, Australia self isolation is realistic, in India its hard to imagine given the density most of the country has. This could spread like a wildfire.

It makes sense to pull back to only hubs. Delta really has so much going on and it's impossible to know where demand will come back first. If they fly only to hubs they can shift easier. Cut or add flights easier. Even with a hub only model they will need slim schedules for a while to stop the cash ...
