Passenger comfort should be an issue here. I guess the lack of competition on the route allows for US to squeeze them in to whatever aircraft has the range to fly it.

It must be gruelling to endure 8 hours on a 757, with certain domestic configuration.

Apparently TAP moved out after taking a detailed look at Varig's numbers.

There's speculation that VarigLog's owners are again looking at Varig.

The TGV sale has done worse for Varig than helped. They actually delayed a potential solution through OceanAir and TAP.
