Well, my goal, in the beginning was to re-use the ticket on one of my friends and have them pay me. but, the guy said that it is against FAA Regulation and the ticket is not transferable. So I would really like to use the ticket still, just for my friend instead of my ex.

I dont think so. even though you may have the same confirmation number, you have different ticket numbers. ie you will likely be zone 2 or 3 and your friend may be 5. but i am sure the gate agent wouldnt mind. ive done the same when traveling with friends.

this sounds like a glitch to me. delta.com will not let book a ticket for someone else while logged in to your skymiles number unless that person is traveling with you. you just got lucky I guess.
