Why anyone would live in that area voluntarily is insane. For some of us, this is still home. It's not the same SF as it was in the 90s, it changes daily. I go back and forth between Europe and here, but when I land at SFO every two months or so, I breathe out a sigh of relief and can't help but sa...Jump to post
San Francisco is my hometown, and I can't believe I'm saying this... but sounds like they got a great deal. Last thing I read here in the local paper the other day, the average cost to rent a 1-bedroom apartment in the Mission District of SF is like $3,900 a month. Makes me so happy about rent...Jump to post
Munich could, in time, be a significant base for FR. Agreed. Munich needs a low-coster. Transavia came in with strong promises, flew a little and is now closing up shop. Was glad to take advantage of some incredible fares from MUC while they were in town. FR can swoop in and take their place. We ne...Jump to post
To all A.Net readers, one thing I will warn to everyone. Be prepared for a lot of fake news about this from various putinbots (trolls from Olgino) e.g, allegations that Ukraine is unsafe or that FR didn't get the insurance etc. This is because this is quite a propaganda coup for the Kremlin. :!: Hu...Jump to post
Why exactly weren't they offered overnight accommodation? I'm quite confused by United's attitude towards basic customer service.Jump to post
Is this kind of a punishment of Fraport ?!?! Rather than punishment, seems like a smart allocation of resources to where they are needed. There seems to exist some strange notion here on A.net that MUC is somehow a weaker link to FRA. In reality, both hubs function very successfully together and se...Jump to post
Very timely thread. In Oslo at the moment to meet up with friends and one of them flew in on OAK-OSL June 4rd. He said he was connected to functioning WiFi for at least the first few hours of flight and was even able send an email and do some work. I was confused since I hadn't heard of Norwegian of...Jump to post
There are no rail Slots available in the City tunnel from haupt- to Ostbahnhof, simple fact. In that case, an Ostbahnhof -> MUC express would be a great start. Let Haupt catch up later, it's further away anyway. Taking this connection again today actually and quietly wishing there was a fast link :)Jump to post
There is one criticism from that article however, that still holds true today: the poor transport connections, the lack of national rail, let alone high-speed, and the slow speed of the suburban rail connecting it to Munich. Completely agree. I usually make that return journey once or twice a month...Jump to post

Selfishly, I'm totally rooting for SFO so that I can commute between my homes in peace, fully avoiding the mess that is FRA.Jump to post
I fly on LH's 346s quite often, they all have downstairs lavatories. And other airlines operating them as well I believe. Reading the description under the video, I think the poster means that it's the only *type* in the whole LH fleet that has downstairs bathrooms. (Not counting the 380s, which obv...Jump to post

Just read this on local media in London; http://metro.co.uk/2017/05/01/turbulence-was-so-bad-passengers-ended-up-with-spinal-injuries-6607991/ Please note, the Metro is regarded as incredibly sensationalist and of poor journalistic quality, but does include a video of the aftermath onboard, looks p...Jump to post

SJC is objectively a better airport for the Bay Area. Now with ANA and BA in SJC, the only excuse to use SFO is VX/AS or Star miles How on earth is this even true? I would never drive to SJC to catch a flight from my house. Even OAK is a stretch, and would only make sense for me early in the mornin...Jump to post
I'd rather sit in a car for an hour... I accept that I'm in the minority though! You also have to understand that Bay Area traffic is getting considerably worse, not better. Conditions today are significantly more congested and slow compared to even 3 years ago. I would say that for a 7pm Friday ev...Jump to post
By 7pm the traffic should be manageable. You could BART to West Oakland, but you'd still have to Uber from there to Emeryville (or take a bus). Personally I think the time saving would be negligible, so if cost isn't a factor just Uber all the way. 7pm traffic on a Friday across the Bay Bridge is m...Jump to post
This is fairly simple. If they start this, shut down all Aeroflot flights to US. Start what? Some shady website states Russia refused entry and all of a sudden we have tons of political assessments. Seems like all other aircraft were flying just fine, there's got to be more to this story that isn't...Jump to post

Quick Google News search brings this up: http://aviationweek.com/aircraft-interiors-expo/akka-overhaul-cabins-gecas-owned-embraer-170s Considering this article came out 4 days ago, I think it's safe to say in-service date has bee...Jump to post

Due to open skies with the EU, Wizz now serves 10 destinations from Kutaisi, with others, including London, available for booking. A bit unrelated. Just noticed that BA's flight numbers for these flights are BA2278 (OAK-LGW) and BA2279 (LGW-OAK). From what I've gathered, usually the home base airport gets assigned a number, then it's +1 for the return. Any idea why OAK is the originating number here? I know there must be except...Jump to post
As I live here, I fly in and out of INN often, but have only experienced this approach once. Seems rare, but nothing out of the ordinary, though I agree it's super cool! With all the folks here in favor of the BYOD scheme, it makes me think that you guys don't really travel long distances very often. Why does LH never put an real bulkhead between Y and PE? Sucks for the passengers. Flightaware showing the flight time as 7h47m from AMS to AMS with the diversion. That's a few minutes longer than the original AMS-NBO a few times in the past week. A whole 'lotta flying time to end up in the same place.
Glad they are getting her fixed though.
