Had it, cancelled it. I didn't have any real problems with the service, I just didn't use it enough. I figured I would have to watch at least 12 a month to break even with my local chain. I don't have that kind of time to devote to movies.
Jump to postWhat aircraft require flight tests to test the autopilot? I am not doubting you if it sounds like that, I am merely curious I did a test flight in a CRJ last year to test the autopilot in certain modes. Can't remember what work was being done, but it was a repeat write up which mx was unable to dupl...
Jump to postI have not heard that from anyone, but if I did, I would think it is indicative of a person who lacks curiosity about the world around them. Maybe they are cynical, or burned out, or simply self-absorbed. I hope I never reach the point where I never care to learn about anything new.
Jump to postWhen I flew corporate, a lot of mx was of the "just in case" variety. It was deemed better to pay a little extra now and get more reliability than suffer the consequences of a failure and delay later. For example, we had a C414 with excessive RPM drop on the mag check and was fairly difficult to sta...
Jump to postTest flights may be necessary to return an aircraft to CAT II/III status. They may also be necessary for certain autopilot functions. I know we regularly do test flights to check for proper ADG deployment and function. Certain repairs and modi...
Jump to postThe reversers may be deferred. Some airports have a curfew on reverser use as well. Finally, sometimes we choose not to use reverse under certain circumstances. Its not a big deal.
Jump to postI don't think this is really a big deal. Many countries require passports for entry or re-entry. The US is merely doing what others are doing. For millions of people, passport usage is a common occurance. So long as the law is applied consistantly, I have no problem with it. For those who don't thin...
Jump to postI have been wanting one for quite some time, but am determined to wait until the average price of a 1GB player falls to about $100. At the rate the prices are moving, I think this will take another year. To those who have already bought one, if the battery runs flat, do you lose the stored music, or...

Jump to postWhat, if any, benefits do you think Germany derives from its' EU membership? Does it bring any new trade or other economic advantages that you did not enjoy before? Just curious. It seems to cost your country a lot. I was wondering if you get a good deal for what you are paying?
Jump to postI have landed on frozen lakes before, both on wheels and skis. The operation definately goes more smoothly if you have some degree of local knowledge and and reasonable assure your self of the thickness of the ice.
Jump to postDon't forget the all important load factor. A full CRJ may have a higher seat mile cost than a full A320, but the cost on 1/2 full A320 verses a full CRJ changes the picture some. Some cities will not generate enough traffic at a given time to fill a larger aircraft, but can fill several smaller one...
Jump to postThis raises an interesting question, should there be some sort of minimum financial criteria for joining the EU? Also, is denying admission based on financial status also denying the people in those countries the opportunity to improve thier country and standard of living via the resources of the EU...
Jump to postI have had my current dell for about 3 yrs and have only ever had one significant hardware problem with it. It is a Dimension 4400 (I believe) It was under warranty and in-home service had it back up and running in a few days. Other than that, I have no complaints. Even the printer has given me no p...
Jump to postYes. A great game to play with new Beech FO's is to trigger the boots right about the time they are finished trimming the aircraft. The boots cause a small pitching moment which will make it feel like the elevator is still a little out of trim. You have to make sure they are so absorbed in flying th...
Jump to postI am on the let her live side, regardless of how she ended up in that condition. I don't care if she stopped off to have an abortion on her way from a Satanic Mass to a gay marriage, let her live.
Jump to postThe boot system on the 1900 works reasonably well. I usually waited until about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of ice, or airspeed decaying below 170 to hit the boots. The props and inlet anti-ice would usually be on by then. There is no mistaking the sound of ice hitting the fuselage. If any ice has accumul...
Jump to postWhile I do have a lot of sympathy for Terry's family and can't imagine what they are going through right now, I can't help but wonder how long it will take to undo all the damage done here. While I think the decision by the court was the wrong one, I also think the actions of the government, especia...

Jump to postHad an uncle who was a tremendous train fan. He died a few years back, but spent part of his retirement (from Braniff) traveling to train museums around the country. Later, he bought a caboose, put it in his back yard, and spent his last years restoring it. It is in a museum somewhere in Texas now.

Jump to postI will say it again, it comes down to the fact that I think gay marriage is wrong. Public policy, on the other hand, ...

Jump to postIt may have been a weight shift as well. As the aircraft gets loaded and the CG moves, the aircraft will rock back on the mains or forward on the nose.
