With Norwegian continually hounding BA and diluting traffic into many of the 'new' destinations that BA has opened over the last few years I wouldn't be surprised if BA withdrew from some of these destinations altogether. Something has got to give.

Rather than being short of A380s, could it be more that the routes do not justify it outside their peak seasons? this shows how short BA is of A380s, I'm still very surprised that they haven't ordered more. For Y pax they have to be the ride of choice: Y in BA B789 versus Y in BA A380 is no contest ...

Gatwick is about 5% heavies, Heathrow 40% so comparisons on runway movement rates are not appropriate. Mid forties on each side is about right. That is not true, studies have shown that extra capacity in mixed mode would be minimal, especially compared to an extra runway.
