Considering it can barely sustain what it currently gets the State Government needs to build the reputation of Perth and WA, otherwise they'll just be subsidising route after route. What on earth are you talking about? QR choosing PER as an A380 destination (one of their few) speaks for itself. PER...Jump to post
Because even CZ, the arguably largest carrier between China and Australia, can't maintain a daily year-round service to PER? It really says something about the demand. CX's not having a lot of flights like the east cost ones either, although I do understand the bilateral limitations. CZ recently up...Jump to post

Speaking of on time record... QF12 has to be one of the worst performers internationally. It's more shocking to see JFK-LAX leave on time than delayed!
Is it not feasible for QF to push back the departures to SYD & MEL from LAX back an hour to avoid the constant knock on effect that happens?
Amazing news and definitely didn't see this coming! I'm glad that QR is seeing good numbers on the route, EK going down to twice daily has probably done a lot of good for them.
Will be awesome to see two 380s parked next to eachother every night.

Does QF have plans to refit any more 738s with the BSI product? Those tattered black fabric seats in economy look absolutely dreadful... feels no different to sitting on TT or JQ. I guess I've been spoiled... my last 7 flights have been on the XZ birds until I got newly repainted VYH last night.
JQ and TT fly many westbound "red eyes" departing the eastern states between 10 and 11pm and arriving into Perth after midnight (3am EDT)
They then turn around and fly back arriving around 6-7am. Most of the crews do a turnaround - I couldn't think of anything worse!
QF updated 789 domestic schedule Will also operate a one off MEL-CBR Domestic flights will also operate from mid Feb to late March http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/275468/qantas-updates-boeing-787-domestic-operation-in-nw17/ Amazing! 6am is an ungodly hour to be at the airport, a 5am or 5.30am departure would not be fun. . I'm pretty sure QF run a 5:00am departure BNE-MEL during DST. Yuck! Is OEB the only 744 remaining in the old 4 class configuration? When is it due for retirement? I just booked SYD-JNB return next June/July, and after flying her JFK-LAX this year I am praying to the gods I don't get her again - she is in dire need of a new cabin product. I know they often use this b...Jump to post
The way the Dutch Saint Maarten locals explained it to me, the beach naturally disappears during the summer/fall months, replaced by rock and boulders and usually around late October to early November, mother nature brings the beach back. Truck loads of sand are not brought in. That is a myth. This...Jump to post
I would love to see EK retain the capacity by launching DXB-PER-AKL. Replace the seasonal 2 x weekly QF PER-AKL service with a daily year round 777, slap a QF code on it and align the schedule for connections to/from PER-LHR.Jump to post
I have no idea why ET or KQ would fly direct to MEL when PER would allow for convenient connections to every single major city in the country. ADD/NBO-PER arriving in the early morning, team up with QF or VA and offer ~2 hour connections to ADL, DRW, MEL, SYD and BNE. Yes, the African diaspora is bi...Jump to post
With TT now operating PER-MEL/SYD/BNE, are we close to seeing them make a return on PER-ADL? I'm actually surprised they launched BNE before to be honest.
Would love to see JQ or TT launch PER-ASP or PER-DRW, fares to the NT can be pretty high from WA.
Virgin's new ad campaign is stunning. Website has had a lovely makeover too. Their marketing is always so much slicker in comparison to QF.
If only their profits were looking "up".
Hopefully the 332s take over the 738s which have found themselves on a near 6 hour flight to PER these days.Jump to post
Visiting Fiji for the first time and I am already in love. FJ is such a fabulous airline, especially in J. Managed to get their sole 333 on SYD-NAN today. It got me thinking, would a seasonal NAN-PER flight be justifiable? Bali has a stigma for many these days and with good timings they could market...Jump to post
Stayed overnight in SYD at the Rydges and was shocked to see how many widebodies boarded from remote stands this morning! AC to YVR, LA to AKL/SCL, QF to PVG and SQ to SIN all had pax bussed and then up stairs. Is this a regular occurrence for SYD?Jump to post

Given the number of Indonesians working and living in Australia, and the close proximity allowing flights with 737 it seems odd to me that there aren't alternative points other than CGK and DPS. I have heard on the grapevine that an airline (from Asia) that currently does not fly to PER yet has been in town evaluating the airport over the past week or so I know who it is- a little out of left field and not that exciting, but I guess it's an extra notch in the PER belt. I'm really excited to see what PER-LHR does for WA tourism. I expect many will now spend a few days in Perth much like many spend 2-3 days in Los Angeles on their holidays into (or out of) the USA. As for PER-PVG and PER-NRT, I think both are a matter of when, not if. As 787 and 350 fleets continue ...Jump to post

I would say it would cost a ridiculous amount of money to charter a widebody plane and fly it from the USA to Australia.
I'm sure you could easily accomodate 250 passengers across QF, UA, DL, AA, NZ and HA over a few days.
I was incredibly surprised when I flew DL JFK to SXM last week that even some international flights do not get lounge access for J pax. As an Australian, that's pretty much unheard of.Jump to post
What are the next retirements planned after -OJM? Seriously, make up your minds. VA are finally, FINALLY, getting their act together. If you believe all they should be is Virgin Blue again then fine, that's valid. Out of interest how are pax treated on both VA and QF when they book a J class Perth flight only to find an equipment change, or even a scheduled, 737 seat? I also forgot to mention that the baggage claim area in Terminal 7 at JFK (I assume the one used for domestic flights as it's segregated from the rest) was absolutely TINY.
