Re: Cruise Ship / Ocean Liner Thread - 2020

The delivery for the Spirit of Adventure has been delayed and the ship will not debut in August as originally planned. This is due to social distancing measures and reduced workers capacity at the Meyer-Werfit Shipyard in Germany that was imposed by COVID-19. Just the latest in a series of delays f...

Yes, they are keeping it. DL is buying two refurbished KC135s from the MI ANG and stationing them at HNL. They are also adding refueling probes for midair refuelings to the 359s. That way, they can carry a full load of passengers and "meaningful" cargo on the run.

Re: Delta A350 in El Paso

In terms of flying the 350 vs say 777 for these charters, my guess would be that marginal costs are lower, hence the frame choice. Agreed. All things equal (yes, that’s an ‘if’), the A350 has a lower fuel burn per seat-mile than the planes used by the usual charter companies. In normal times, Delta...

Correct. Unfortunately in the US, this pandemic was politicized from day one, and some people are unable and/or unwilling to see it as a public health issue rather than a political issue.
