RE: BA To Abandon Kangaroo Route...?

The Kangaroo Route is called the Kangaroo Route because it's one hop between Europe and Australia. It is generally accepted that this in principal refers specifically to the route between United Kingdom and Australia I.E. LHR ...

RE: Shortest Intl Trip You Have Made (flying)?

Shortest international for me has been from Tafuna Airport, Pago Pago, American Samoa to Faleolo Airport, Apia, Western Samoa (and back) on an HS748 (40 seat, pressurised, 2 engine) back in the early 70's.

Total flight time 40 minutes!

RE: Are You Sick To Death Of Qantas?

while not "sick to death of qantas" i am currently very pissed off with them. they've somehow lost a whole lot of my QFF miles and don't appear to even want to listen to me about it.

i had them six months ago, and now i've got half the amount. go figure.

RE: Information On The MD12 Superjumbo

From a flyers perspective, one of the things I really liked about the proposed MD-XX or MD-12 was the first class lounge, like in the 747-100. RE: Virgin Atlantic: New A340-500/600 Or B777 Orde

Capt078 Yep all sounds like good sense to me. Just one addition. When selecting aircraft, an airline also has to analyse what its desired flying public (in this case the premium passenger) wants to or will want to fly. Personally, I'm a regular Business class flyer and I hate/despise getting stuck b...

RE: Will A Qantas / Air New Zealand Merger Happen?

Looking back with 20/20 hind-sight, I wonder what the situation would've been like now, had the New Zealand and Australian regulatory bodies given the go ahead for a 49% investment by Singapore Airlines in the former Air NZ/Ansett Australasian airline?
...

Wil A Qantas / Air New Zealand Merger Happen?

Personally, I don't think so and also hope it won't. What do others think? Is Branson's Virgin and a possible Singapore Airlines link-up enough sustainable competition to warrant the region's two most dominant players formally wedding? And if they do, will it be good for the flying public, the two c...

RE: Favorite Really Small Airport?

There's a little island group in the south east Pacific called the Cook Islands which are spread over a large area of ocean. One of these islands is the idyllic Aitutaki, which lands Air Rarotonga Saab 340's as its largest craft. I've been there on their old Bandeirantes. Being greeted with a "Kia O...

RE: Virgin Atlantic: New A340-500/600 Or B777 Orde

The idea of a new two engined component to Virgin's long haul fleet really appears a red-herring deferring attention away from or towards something. Remember we're talking about a master of media manipulation and spin doctory with Sir Richard. What's really on the agenda and why has this story arise...

RE: Orange And Gray Livery?

I used to work for a design agency that created a new airline livery for Origin Pacific in New Zealand. The initial recommendations we gave were a dark grey with a burnt-orange, assymetric (wave shaped) stripe and logo. The client didn't go with it, which was a real shame as it makes a visual point ...

RE: Why Isn't First Class On Top Deck?

The most important thing of all is to give all premium passengers - not just attentive service, intelligent & gregarious multi-lingual staff, a lie flat bed, a la carte dining, Digital Vod & Mod IFE, email & telephone access and a tranguil setting - but aisle access to all passengers. Why pay all th...

RE: So Now, Will NW Order A340 To Replace 747?

Bring on a real next gen. fleet of A380 and A340-600 to replace and grow the ageing 747-400 and 200 fleets respectively. And then they'd also need to look at the A340-500 for direct Far-East niche flights. Or can America step outside of its current xenophobia and buy what's best rather than best in ...
