I think we would see the big 4 merge with smaller carriers first AS/HA/B6/F9 if that were to happen it reduce seats overall and make a much healthier place
Jump to postWill Doug Parker sign up to this? Not at all, Parker is very smart and has done a great job. Remember AA was on track to liquidate in 2011 before he led the US/HP purchase of AA. WOW US need a date to the prom bad otherwise they might not be around. AA was no where close 2011 to liquidate in fact t...
Jump to postUnited took government cheese and part of that was to keep employees on the clock and not violate their contract. United tried and now backed off in trying to make everyone PT it did take a lawsuit for them to stop but they tried. So while we all know their will be a layoff unless government cheese ...
Jump to postI can see ICN/HNL couple times a week and AMS summer happing within 2 years
Jump to postIf AA could have another 100-150 gates then PHX would close but until then it will be a hub and LAX will serve the most profitable O/D routes
Jump to postAUS from what I hear is a very good performer for JFK on AA
Jump to postAA is not canceling LAX-SYD QF reduced theirs so AA would start theirs.....If anything it will go back to 77w
Jump to postWell JV will help they went from 77W to a 789 on SYD and AKL went to seasonal with JV we should see SYD go back to a 77W and AKL will go back year round maybe a AA dfw flight added
Jump to postTTailedTiger wrote:AA would have to practically give the seats away for me to even consider them. A nice LH A350 vs a clapped out LUS A333. Not a difficult choice.
This is what happens when you have a bi-polar airline one trying to be the best while at the same time trying to be a ulcc
Jump to postAA Unions had sever distrust for AA management team and rightfully so, when Arpey refused to take AA to BK as he saw the turn around coming and felt they owed the employees their pensions AA's board disagreed with him and brought Horton in only to file for BK. This is caused distrust once again with...
Jump to post2nd seat for 50% lots of people would do that just not to have to sit next someone
Jump to postAlways if you nap let your leg hanging out the door
Jump to postIt was Saturday morning sounds like he was still hung over from Friday and not drinking at 5am on the job either way what a bonehead
Jump to postAA went to BK to shed pension it was costing them around 1 Billion extra vs DL/UA/US that's a lot to make up. They went in with lots of cash and with they would have never been forced to liquidate they used BK as tool that's it. While AA should have done it in 2003 they waited too long and Arpey saw...
Jump to postit didn't help that the employees are suing over the reaction to the uniforms.....Also Kirby going to UA was the thinking that after DP ISOM will continue the HP way
Jump to postTake care of your employees and they will go above and behind for the customer. AA employees took pay cuts from 2003 thru 2015 they were lied to and taken advantage of from CEOS Carty/Horton so much so they saw DP as the CEO with a cape on he promised the world and he has failed to live up to those ...
Jump to postThey are turning this into 2 Airlines one they will take care of the most valued flyers 5-10% maybe and then the other 90% treat them like ryan....Look at DL expanding seatback TV's, staying 9 across on 777. It's time for the Dougie show to go.....Instead of buying back shares they should have paid ...
Jump to postRdh3e wrote:I know Kirby left, but are there any brains left at AA HQ?
No A350 for AA and with costs rising they are looking at reducing fleet type faster than they had planned before. So you will see 330s go quicker.
Jump to postWhen all restrictions are lifted CUBA-USA will be a boom until then they will strugle
Jump to postThis really has nothing to do A vs B there isn't much a 350 can do that their current fleet can't. Its comes to money, operating efficiency, pilots. I bet they have no penalty to pay if they cancel the 350 esp if they convert it to 321. They got such a good deal on their current of 321's that if som...
Jump to post77W will be a 5 class plane F/J/PE/E+/Y all other wide bodies will be 4 class J/PE/E+/Y. I suspect over time that PE will morph into J class just like J morphed into F
Jump to postAA takes about the 190 as an oddball fleet too little of them so either AA will need to have around 50 A350 or none at all same with the A330 having only 25 in a huge fleet causes problems
Jump to post330 will go as well when the time is up and the 787 will replace them....I don't see a A330NEO I just see 787/777 for long haul very simple very flexible
Jump to postI doubt they will have to pay anything to cancel they got a great deal on 321/319 so much so if someone buys them cheaper they get money back. My feeling is that they will stick with the 787/777 for long haul they want to keep it simply
Jump to postAA in ORD is focused on O/D Last I say they had like 60-70% O/D and UA had 40%. I see AA uses ORD differently than UA that's all. I know Parker said that ORD will make money and they will trim some money losers that's it.
Jump to postIf these actions are false and AA caves in and offers something to make them happy you will see DL/UA/SW next
Jump to postThere are 3 sides to every story yours mine and the truth....I have a feeling AA will be throwing some free flights at them to shut them and this just creates bigger problems just like the DAO effect rewarding people for bad behavior. And with the capt inserting himself in the argument with the pass...

Jump to postMoney is in AUS also BA just said they will fly the 747 in Spring & Summer 18
Jump to post#1 AA was more stable than all others who filed BK at that time, #2 There was a supposedly Shaared Pain and Shaared Gain where everyone took cuts to keep the airline going ( turned out Carty gave out golden parachutes to ex's, employees suffered while ex's made a lot of money which led to the exit f...
Jump to postThey could use the 321T on it there is demand but just for 1 flight the 77W should stay with HKG & LHR being 77W out of LAX.....
Jump to postPretty soon with all this BS you will start to see a malpractice lawyer fee on each and every ticket
Jump to postComplete BS it was a an equipment change to plane with a smaller F cabin. Im sure airlines have a set protocol way of dealing with this as this isn't the first time this has happen nor will it be the last. I'm sure it looks at people who paid the most, those with the highest status, those on upgrade...
Jump to postThe problem is the average customer only fly's AA once a year at most so they really don't care about someone who goes out their way to fly them they are going for that customer that looks at the cheapest airfare and that's it. Most of their elites will have Y+ or F seats. I hope UA & DL take th...
Jump to postI don't see dfw-lih loaded but I think the runway would be to short but I'm not 100% correct...But if it is 6 daily dfw-hawaii flights is crazy and yet ORD can get a non stop to HNL a couple days a week?
Jump to postStarting and stopping the routes will end up costing more $$$ than sucking it up and keep flying the route while they re-file with a admin that seems to be more business friendly. With that being said I can see SYD going to a 789 5x a week and akl going 3x a week if they don't get it approved.
Jump to postReminds me of the old days of Delta and Eastern at ATL or American and Braniff at DFW. As well as American (=winner) and Delta (=loser) at DFW. Also, Lufthansa kicked Delta out of FRA. Jump to postPHX is being right sized serving low yield markets where they don't have room for at LAX until they are able to add 20-30 more gates at LAX PHX will remain an vital hub

Jump to postI know they connect a lot of people on a daily basis from AA at ord to KE but they said the same thing when they started DFW-ICN how could they go against KE and they did and KE reduced service
Jump to postOnly way PHX will be de-hubbed if they were to add about 50 gates at LAX
Jump to postI think a lot depends on what the airport charges for rent in which the places charge for food. I would assume airports are charging 5x the rent that would pay outside the airport which means they need to charge 5 x as much for the food.
