Go out and experiment, Phil. I think I read someplace that the longer the focal length the less the effect, and have to say that I don't seem to get much out of mine on [long] aviation shots. To directly answer your question, I just rotate the filter to darken the image, or reduce obvious glare. Ter...

An airplane sitting out in the open is going to attract idiots. American Airlines had a restored DC-3 sitting outside it's small museum until vandalism got out of hand. The airplane is still there but is now in a glass "hangar."

Pitot tubes gather ram air from which airspeed is measured. They can be heated to prevent icing over and becoming inop or unreliable, but because of the danger of burns the heat should be turned off on the ground.

Not sure if the short tail airplanes had powered rudders, but it seems logical. Then, the taller versions originally had parallel yaw damper systems which caused some problems and had to be off for take-off and landing. These were replaced with dependable series type yaw dampers in the late sixties,...

American's A-300s were painted gray for many years while the rest of the fleet was, and is, polished aluminum. Several years ago for whatever reason, the buses were stripped and polished also. AA believes the lack of paint is cost effective.
