Re: Jet Airways: Shutdown

Just looked up fares for LAX-BOM from June 7 - 24. AF/DL/KL are charging a ridiculous $4500 roundtrip for economy.
When I looked up fares a couple of days ago, they were charging around $2000. How are they expecting to fill Y with those fares?

It seems to me that DL is getting more and more reliant on their partners for flights like LAX-AMS. But like others have said, it just could be too much capacity. KL does have two dailies on the LAX-AMS route. DL could be trying to send more pax through the Pacific Northwest (SEA and PDX), but that...

It looks an interesting day as it seems AF took temporary control over the 9W123 slot today at BOM, that means in total they are sending 2 aircrafts, Boeing 777-300ER for their regular AF217/218 flight (instead of Mainline A332/Joon A343) and a Boeing 787-9 as substitute for the canceled 9W123. As for AMS, might KL launch a red-eye AMS-BOM departure to replace service on 9W? (Delta's DL48/9 used to be JFK-AMS-BOM before it was cut back to AMS, usually on a B763, inherited from Pan Am.) Have flown via LAX a few times and connected onto the A380 and 747-400 and it is almost always a chaotic experience. LAX can be crowded and chaotic if you are switching terminals. But the AA terminal (T4) and TBIT are connected airside so you do not have to clear security and TBIT is a nice terminal.

ORD, SEA, IAH, DTW, MSP, soon DFW etc are “smaller” than IAD for AF. DTW is not small for AF. They may operate just one daily flight but don't forget it is a DL hub and considering the revenue sharing JV between AF/DL/KL and all the daily flights across the Atlantic from DTW, it is pretty big for AF.
