Always wondered....why is it so damn hard to tell which direction a helicopter is coming from? I constantly hear choppers (medvacs, military, police, etc..) going by my work & home and my head is always on a swivel trying to figure out where it is? I guess its a lesson in sound waves.

Just to add to your post, they need to rehabilitate the main rwy 5-23 and add the FAA mandated 1,000 ft safety area. They will lengthen the 23 end to make up for rwy lost to the safety overrun area. In order to keep the airport running they are extending 14-32 and making it useful for commercial act...
