RE: 737-800 Landing Speed?

At max landing weight (144,000 pounds for our -800s), the flaps 30 (degrees) Vref is 150. We usually add 5 knots to that to produce a "target speed" of 155 knots. So your numbers are pretty accurate. Touchdown will normally occur at a speed less than target.

Most Ugly Aircraft

This one came to my mind first: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Unkno...ransavia-PL-12-Airtruck/0310426/M/ PZL has produced a few notably ugly planes, too, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

RE: Failing A Check Ride

I don't recall ever being asked if I'd ever failed a check ride. I did have one "bust" during a Part 135 check ride in a Baron. During the downwind for a (simulated) single-engine ILS approach, I was flying at the maximum gear and flap extension speed; I preferred this speed because of the handling ...

RE: Pilots Doing Dumb Things

At my first flying job, I became aware of a local pilot that had a poor reputation. Eventually, I met him and he seemed OK to me, though I also could understand his reputation as a "penny-pincher." IIRC, he had landed his airplane (a Commander 112) gear ...

RE: 'Fiddling' Non-Reving System?

I know of one pilot (for a major US legacy carrier) that was terminated for making false bookings for his planned commuting flights. On several occasions, he used the names and phone numbers of friends, but those friends (the same names, over and over) always "no-showed" for their flights, while thi...

IIRC, the upper levels of Terminal C are divided into International and Domestic with the International level being on top. However, you can easily move from one level to the other, so you can direct the driver to the domestic level and then transit upstairs (escalator or elevator).
