EADS To Sell Planes In Euro, Abolishing USD

This makes sense and I am frankly surprised they didn't do it sooner. Long term there is more printing of dollars vs. euros. If LX has some Francs they'd be smart to buy some EAD's planes right ab...

RE: Under Tarmac Heating

So, I think I saw this in Northern Iran where they get light snow on occasion. They actually take an aircraft and drive it around to let the exhaust blow snow off the runway. Fuel there is cheap and snow trucks are non-existent so it actually makes some sense.

RE: Under Tarmac Heating

Yeah, I've wondered this too but it doesn't work. There are too many issues that prevent it from working. #1 is drainage. You can lay down wires over the runway to melt snow as it comes in as people do on steps and then roll it back up after the storm. Problem is it needs somewhere to melt off too. ...

EIS 787 Could Be 2011 After Trent 1000 Test

Why don't they just switch to GenX and maintain the delivery schedule? That engine is on track as far as I know and is probably the better engine anyway. It was always intended for the 787 and for a while I thought it was the only choice. This is actually a Rolls Royce problem. Doesn't really appear...

RE: What Makes LH Successful?

They're well run in general. I do think part of their success is that their hub airports have had significant investments made into them. Frankfurt and Munich airports are better airports to operate out of than say Heathrow or ...

RE: Bosnia's BH Airlines Bans Pork And Alcohol

The point is that its not reasonable to enforce a particular religions customs on everyone onboard a plane when you know for a fact that not everyone onboard is a member of that religion. If you are not doing something that encroaches on another person's rights and is not a safety hazard then why ar...

RE: Heated Runways: Why Not?

I have thought of the exact same thing too. My idea was lay down metal wire lines across 1 runway. Run current through it BEFORE the storm and let it prevent accumulation. Problem is I don't know where the melted snow runs off too before it freezes. You could bury the lines in the pavement like they...
