Well.. if we do count the regionals... as they are usually NOT wholly owned and are themselves a company on their own... Look to ExpressJet... at the height, 274 ERJ's... now still large at 244 ERJ's... while a regional, they are still larger than a lot of other nations flag airlines.

I know the OP was talking Boeing/Airbus equipment.. and "mainline" planes.. but as long as <acronym title="Royal Jordanian">RJ</acronym>'s have a large chunk of the US domestic landscape... might as well throw in my numbers... So for my own curiosity... what were some of the original US airlines seating arrangements for the 721's as they entered the fleets, and especially American Airlines'? What were the various seating configs <acronym title="American Airlines (USA)">AA</acronym> had for these planes through their years...

In the current environment post CO 3407... I don't think this will go over well in the United States... As is they're upset about fully commercial licensed pilots with as low as 250 hrs serving as F/O's.
