RE: Lufthansa Replaces Viscount With 737-500

Remember, Lufthansa is the airline that was generous enough and conscious of its own history to pay to build a brand new hangar in Maine that is currently being used to restore a Lockheed L-1649 Constellation that is, IMHO, the most beautful aircaft ever built. Specialists from Lufthansa Technik are...

RE: UA, DL And Hawaiian Service From OAK

Another thing is that west coast-Hawaii flights are heavily discounted. Since Hawaii is primarily a leisure destination rather than a business market that would attract high value customers, I have heard that no one really makes any money on them but they are stuck flying them for competitive reason...

RE: Chinese MD-90, Orders Possible?

Pretty sure he was just referring to the fact that they got just about all the could out of the aircraft. They didn't literally fly them into the ground. RE: Chinese MD-90, Orders Possible?

Delta learned a valuable lesson from Northwest. Back in the early 90's NW started buying up used DC-9-30's at bargain basement prices (one knowledgable person told me then they paid about $1-2 million each and then spent another $2 million refurbis...

RE: Frequent Complainer Dukes It Out With DL

DL's frequent flyer program, like every other airlines', has rules that are agreed to when a person signs on. It specifically states that DL reserves the right to cancel the account for abuse, misuse or just because they decide to discontinue the whol...

RE: How And Who Orders Aircraft For An Airline?

Actually, after the decision has been made to purchase a new airliner, a committee consisting of the board, engineering and maintenance, finance, inflight, flight opns (pilots) and others make a joint decision. Price and availability of mainentance support are always critical issues. Now an airline ...
