Re: Boeing: 747 production may end

I think you missed my point. Those frames are the current VC-25's--no frames have been allocated to the new AF1. It takes a lot of work to turn a 748 into a presidential aircraft. It has to be hardened against EMP, updated communications, refueling capability (even if it never has been used), variou...

Re: Boeing: 747 production may end

Don't these items come off other planes when they go to the scrapper? I would imagine that it is quite expensive to have a wear house full of parts, which might be needed in the future. If you imagine production ending in 2019/2020, there won't be too many 747s gone to the scrapper yet. But all of ...

Re: Boeing: 747 production may end

Well the United States Air Force must be quite quick to order the 2 - 4 frames if they want an American replacement for the VC-25A's, otherwise they might end up with something more sensible like the 777, or if they want to stick to a 4 holer the A380 :D The Secret Service and USAF will not allow a...

They will have to recover the cockpit and forward cabin sections for a complete examination of the cause of the fire. How do they fit 350 pax on an A310? Serious indeed. Wonder who 'grassed' them up- must have been the cabin crew. They probably were on a layover in GLA and just beginning their duty day. No f/a would serve alcohol to a working pilot when they are going to be on the airplane themselves! Common sense...

Aircraft cabins stay as clean as those that use them. The air is totally recirculated out about every three minutes. In 42 years I think I have caught about 5 colds total.
