Well...Frontier already serves DEN -- IAH route with 737s. They upgrade the 737-200s to -300s and put the CRJs on them as well. Check Frontier's website for exact schedules.

I Was The Only One

Not Quite Airbus380

Presently there are no 767-400s from Houston. We have 777s on the NRT and CDG routes. NRT will never be a 764. As of March 1st 2002 767-400s will replace the DC10s on the IAH-HNL routes.

I Flew The Route

I flew the route in October on an EMB120. The flight is 12 minutes long and convenient for those that live on the Soutside of Houston. The flight to Ellington is probably 20minutes long and it serves Clear Lake and Galveston. The flight plan gives you a nice scenic flight over Houston.

Houston To Houston

Continental flies between Houston Hobby and Intercontinental with a 737-300 and EMB120. They also fly from Ellington Field (EFD) to Intercontinental with ATR42s. Flight time from IAH to HOU is about 8-15 minutes.

Not Uncommon

Almost all scharter airlines use 10 abreast in the trijets. I've flown Sun Country DC10s between IAH and LAS in 10 abreast. It is a really tight squeeze. I usually don't complain about pitch and seat room-but its pretty tight. I've heard of 8 abreast in some 767s and 9 abreast in some Airbus aircraft.

Well, where are you going to be flying from? Also what routes will you be travelling the most? Continental is a very good airline, but if it doesn't meet your route strategy then I recommend another carrier.

As much as I am against DFW (I am from Houston) j/k, I wouldn't be surprised to see QANTAS fly the route in the future with 777LRs, especially since they are allianced with American.

Actually, the NG737s in Continental's fleet are equipped with IFE's. It was not unlike flying a 757, however I would prefer a 757 over a 737 anyday. The 737 classics are being refitted with the IFE's as well.

That's precisely why there are unusually long runways at those "hot and high" airports. Las Vegas McCarren's longest is 14,000-15,000 ft long if I'm not mistaken.

Its funny that people that move next to an airport decide to complain about the noise. In most cases the airport did not spring up around homes. If you live next to an airport you have to expect noise. Its like going swimming and not expecting to get wet. Just thought it was kinda interesting to post.

Continental is in the process of relocating its employees to staff the flights that HP originally handled. Particularly in PHX and LAS. Those CO flights will be staffed by CO gate agents. Ground support will be conducted by HP. Continental wants to ensure a high level of customer service.

My first L1011 experience was in 1993. I flew DL17 from ATL to DFW where I connected in lieu of a nonstop ATL-IAH flight. I also flew them from DFW to LAX and back in 1995.
