The only thing is, the aircraft had not entered the cell at the moment of the crash yet. Listening to the ATC, I stand corrected that it could have been to avoid the cell...but there was no weather at the location of impact at time of impactJump to post
That left turn is bizarre. only reason i can think of that makes sense is that they knew they were doomed and didnt want to hurt anyone on the ground. More likely the turn was to avoid weather, which is what they wanted from ATC. GF Doubtful. That turn is sudden and intentional... not ATC instructe...Jump to post
Several posts have addressed your specific questions kid. You just seem to refuse to accept the arguments. The thing is...if we entertain your faulty rationale that the aforementioned arguments are opinion based...so is yours. Also, if the DFW flights to Asia were O&D driven solely... you would ...Jump to post
Mfe777 points are all flawed. He has presented absolutely baseless arguments and no data. The rationale he is providing lacks any wherewithal. We are only left with the possibilities that he is a child/teen, it is inflammatory and he is only attempting to get a rise, or he really has nearly zero kno...Jump to post

Dude, you are ignoring any numbers provided, that can be substantiated. You just don't like the numbers. So no...we can't have a healthy discussion here when faced with obstinacy. You arent even discussing anything with any sound logic.Jump to post
What a fool. The numbers aren't made up. Where are your supporting numbers mfe?Jump to post
Because its nothing worth flying thousands of miles for? It's a nice place for Europeans to get a tan but not worth a TATL for... It’s a million times nicer than Hawaii but let’s keep the ignorami ignorant .... works out better in the end for everyone AGREED! I love Hawaii for vacation - but I PMI ...Jump to post
EDIT: the CRJ-550s will be conversions of United's existing CRJ-700s and will not be new build frames. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-ual-capacity/united-to-add-premium-seats-on-regional-and-mainline-jets-idUSKCN1PV0BF It's better that these CRJ-550s are conversions because these planes will be...Jump to post
This would keep me from flying WN to Hawaii unless the cost for business select was not too much more than flying an airline with assigned seats plus baggage fees. I'll fly WN on 2-3 hr trips because if I don't get to sit next to my wife it won't be the end of the world. 6 hrs is past the limit for...Jump to post
The one problem I see with WNs model is the lack of assigned seating. The flight to Hawaii can approach 6 hours. That’s a long way to fly on vacation not being guaranteed seating next to family or friends. It’s not an obstacle on much shorter mainland flights but on these longer leisure flights, I ...Jump to post
It was a great trip. The 777 was very clean and neat. Service was good, but robotic. Definitely a better option service wise than a United 737-900. Crew was friendly and meals were ok... not exceptional. Would definitely take this option as long as its flown.Jump to post

DFW-MAD is bolstered by OneWorld traffic. I don't think there are as many PDEW between IAH and MAD either. Is AA bringing back DFW-KEF since they ran the icelandic carriers out?Jump to post

Been following this thread in its entirety...I'd like to consider myself a very astute non biased aviation enthusiast...my question is this: Should the traveling public have reservations about flying a MAX right now? As I understand without any further info from the crash is that every one of these ...Jump to post
I flew NZ during the summer IAH - AKL. The flight was full. I assume IAH - SYD doing well! Wow, an assumption based off of an anecdote from a totally different flight. You should go into route-planning. Also, "summer" is ambiguous. Pick a hemisphere. For those who live in Houston and have...Jump to post
Well said. No one is refuting the reason Chicago was chosen as HQ or the price of oil...its all about how the public perception of UA was fouled. I would be interested to see how other airlines have faired in Houston since the merger. Colloquially speaking it seems that other carriers have all grown...Jump to post

Actually, Turkish Air had a 91 percent LF in August on the Houston-Istanbul route.
Doesn’t mean it’s profitable
I think you have it backwards. LH run AA out of PHL, their own hub. AA is just trying to hold on to MUC but just barely. The point of sale is overwhelmingly on the German side for the MUC routes. As for DBV I guess in hindsight it's not that much of a surprise. Croatia these days is like Portugal. ...Jump to post
From a customer's perspective, why wouldn't you want everything centralized? If I took a flight into Atlanta, I dont want to have to take a bus an hour or so north just to catch a connection. Logistically speaking, it makes perfect sense having everything in one spot. If you book a flight with an a...Jump to post

What operation is this airline running? Charters? I've seen them at DFW and IAH.... mainly from puj.Jump to post
I do not think so by one single reason: it is widely expected that Boeing's MOM will be single aisle which the A310 was not. Nowadays, you would see the B787-8 potentially competing to the A310 if this one was still in the market (maybe a slightly stretched A310 that is...).What I would argue is th...Jump to post

I don't think we got the DC10 here at IAH...perhaps prior to deregulation. Before the merger HOU got 737-200/300s and 727-200s; where as IAH got DC8, 72S, 733/735/73S, and the 757. 757 was the largest we got to SFO and DEN until right after the merger was announced we had a 763 in UA colors run SFO-...Jump to post
7636mi IAH-LAD would have been longer than ATL-JNB. Didn't SAA fly IAH-JNB with a 74L? Or was that with an intermediate stop?Jump to post
Any source on "Looks like they will bring back the A380's to DFW ASAP"
I'm more interested to see the loads on the slugfest to Iceland.
IDK how many people interline...but I was trying to build a connection at FLL from AUA to HOU...specifically didn't because of the lack of walkways.Jump to post
