AFAIK Aeromexico had the Md87 and MD 83 leased at very good terms for a long time, so when the leases expired along with heavy maintenance, the decision was made to go all 737, and Embraers in the low density routes.

Thanks Zeke for the charts, very informative of real world usage (in certain parameters). Sometimes I wonder how the 777 would fare if they did not made it a torture chamber of 10 abreast, and for some reason 9 abreast was the norm...
