Re: Joint venture offers for Avianca (AV)

Avianca flies to IAD and LAX from Bogotá I suppose this is only meant to mention UA's hubs that AV flies to, but obviously their biggest US hub is MIA, not to mention their ops to FLL, JFK, and MCO. I am very torn about this. On the one hand, I really wish AV remains in Star Alliance, hence I hope ...

Re: Joint venture offers for Avianca (AV)

It is almost impossible to CM to win the bid. CM operates two different carriers in Colombia (Low cost Wingo and Copa Colombia, formerly Aerorepública). Supersociedadesm which is the regulatory entity in Colombia wont allow a single company to keep more than 60% of international traffic and 80% of ...

Re: BREAKING: Plane missing in Colombia

This accident makes remind of MM 501 from PTY to BOG via MDE. The aircraft, a B727-100 registration ID HK2422X crashed near to Abejorral after being cleared to descend. This happened in 1993. For me, this accident makes remind of Avianca Flight 52 I gonna explain you why: My sister's best friend da...

Re: Future of Cubana de Aviacion

This is not my opinion but one of a cousin's: We were talking yesterday by cell phone and he assumes that Donald Trump wont continue Obama's policy to Cuba which means embargo will continue, even stronger, and therefore, boeing wont be able to sell aircrafts to Cubana in order to replace aging ones....

Re: IAG CEO: The A380 can fit in Air Lingus and Iberia

Ignoring EI, could Iberia ever utilise them? Would that ever happen or are the chances as slim as EI? ZKOXA MAD-MIA and MAD-MEX spring to mind as likely candidates. Bogota has 2 daily nonstop flights to Madrid. Supressing 1 flight and substituing it for only 1 daily on A380 could be an option.. mai...

Re: ANA announces Mexico City service

AM or KE should really start MEX-ICN. I'm sure there's a ton of auto industry traffic there. AM has, in fact, applied for MEX-MTY-ICN-MEX route using 787-8. Lots of business and a steadily growing Korean community in northern Mexico -specially Nuevo Leon, where MTY is located- and Mexico City. It i...

Why current aircraft are retired / phased out earlier than before?

In the previous days, i was trying to browse on wikipedia and airfleets.com about the development of aircrafts during the 20 and 21 centuries and then I made a comparison between both periods of time and realized that previuosly an airframe could last flying for around 25 years, even for the same ca...

Re: Odds Of ORD-BOG/LIM?

AV is not likely to be lauching any other flight to US besides BOS which has been extremely rumored but not consolidated yet. Or either TPA like i stated on other thread. In fact, AV's financial situation is not the best and other US destinations are not now on their radar nowadays

Re: TPA seeks to add DUB, AMS, LIM, MEX, BOG....

I would imagine that the CM TPA-PTY flight is more than sufficient to cover the Latin American market out of TPA. Plus, AA's huge Latin American network is available out of MIA - a 45 minute flight from TPA. So, LIM and BOG are pretty well served already! As i stated previously, people in my countr...

Re: TPA seeks to add DUB, AMS, LIM, MEX, BOG....

BOG is more than obvious.. No direct flight between both airports. All people are tired of driving from MIA or MCO. If I could, I would add even BAQ, CTG, can work with A319 2x a week.
MDE, CLO and BOG can be serviced by AV and fill an A320 7x a week...from each city.
