COEWR:

It depends on the particular country, airline, and the route being flown. Some countries and airlines prohibit alcohol completely. Therefore, if you want an answer for a particular situation, please state the circumstances.

RE: Delta Reports A Q1 Loss Of $1.1 Billion

RyanAFAMFP, You are right. This has only a modicum to do with unions. It is more to do with the defined benefit packages, outdated work rules, and huge debt racked up by the legacies. To put it bluntly, the unions at WN put it to the rest of the in...

RE: Delta Reports A Q1 Loss Of $1.1 Billion

This does not look good to me.

If you take out pension, interest, and $300MM of incremental fuel expenses they would have only shown a $20MM profit. I am beginning to become quite pessimistic about Chapter 11 avoidance.

Pad,

Ok, it's not on the books, but available if they should ever show a profit. It would also be lost in a Chapter 11, even if a profit followed as I recall.

RE: DL Expected To Report 1Q $670M Loss

It was $1.206 Bln they wrote off in tax loss carry forwards in 2004. That's what happens when you work from memory. It looks to me like they wrote it all off, take a look. It's a little difficult to tell with some of their methods, so I'd be glad to hear a second opinion. Here is a link to the 2004 ...

Let me get this straight.

My costs are higher than the competition, I have no money and my competition has a boat load, therefore I will start a fare war.

Looks like a last gasp to me.

WN will eat them alive.

Mergers and failures will occur throughout the industry over the next 2 years or so until we have 3 or so legacies and 3 large LCCs, (and a smattering of regionals here and there). The questions are: 1. Who will survive. 2. Who will liquidate. 3. Who will be absorbed. Please note that the survivor m...

Does anyone have this from a non-subscription service?

Doing some quick, back of the envelope calculations, I would have thought the loss would be in the $150MM range before interest expenses, with maybe another $300MM in interest. Perhaps I underestimated fuel expense a tad.
