I think you just have to take the federal entrance exam, and apply for the job. If your score is high enough they hire you and send you to Oklahoma City for training. If you make it you have a job. I've heard the washout rate is high.

With the latest deliveries 84 aircraft are in Leo colors. Only two 764 are in Ron colors, 1802 and 1804.

I've never been on an ERJ and don't intend if I can help it. I tend to think of it as an overgrown Brazilla. I've never liked that airplane. In the long run the crj should standup better. In five years those erjs will be falling apart.

I don't know about the engines. 614 has never been painted since delivery. It has alwas had the 60's paint scheme.

All commercial aircraft above 75K lbs had to be Stage III compliant in the US by Dec 31,1999. stage IV rules are just being discussed by ICAO at this time. They will likely be 15 dbs less than stage III. This would make most 757/767 and all 777 compliant.

Delta is aquireing 738 to replace 727. We accept deleviery of a new aircraft once a week. Usually one to three a month are 738. The rest are either 764 or 757.

Gso is doing only mod work not HMV. The two that are there right now are getting updated crew rest facilities and a aux tank mod. They were scheduled to be painted this month but it shows them going into paint in March. These things are always subject to change.

I highly doubt you will ever see a 747 in Delta colors. The maintenance budget for next year shows removing the 747 tail dock and installing a dock for 767s.

Delta does not paint aircraft at "D" check. our equiv check is HMV and only touch up painting is done. All painting is done on one of the paint lines, either in ATL or PAE. some of the 727 are being painted because they still will be here until 2005

The NY Air Guard unit is based at SCH near Albany. A Navy unit used to also support yhe South Pole but all duties have been transfered to the 109th Airlift Group in SCH. They also support Greenland and the North Pole.

JetBlue has mentioned SYR for future expantion. Also a start up, Legacy Air is trying to get orginized there. I doubt they will see daylight any time soon. The DOT is questioning their financing. Delta Connection will be resuming service to LGA next month in the form of ACJet.
